  • About

Bolton Wanderers fan. Lived in the Canadian prairies for the last 9 years. I'm a copywriter who enjoys illustrating too (cartoony stuff, really): http://giddykippertalkies.tumblr.com/

John Williams was my childhood gateway drug into film music and music in general.

Most played soundtracks the last few years: BIRTH, UPSTREAM COLOR, UNDER THE SKIN, THE THING (Morricone), GODZILLA (Desplat), ALL IS LOST, A FIELD IN ENGLAND, HELLRAISER, SORCERER, LUST/CAUTION, THE MACHINIST, PERFUME, THE THING (Beltrami), PSYCHO

I like music by all the usual suspects but don't slavishly love everything by one composer.

Williams, Goldsmith, Silvestri, Desplat, Beltrami, Herrmann, Elfman, Kamen, Bernstein, Carpenter/Howarth, Morricone, Poledouris, Goldenthal, Young, Zimmer, Glass, Shore, Tangerine Dream, etc... literally everyone, apparently.

Non-film music stuff i like: Ralph Vaughn Williams, OMD, Wagner, Einaudi, Arcade Fire, The Ink Spots, Motown,

Authors: Patrick O'Brian, PG Wodehouse, Jim Thompson, Raymond Chandler, Ray Bradbury

Non-Fiction subjects: American Civil War/American Old West, Films, British Army/Navy in the Napoleonic era, the Space Race/Modern Mars stuff,

If I met a composer i like i'd have literally nothing to say to him as i have no knowledge of music other than liking it and knowing you can't play a cello in a marching band.
