And it's such a refreshing change from the POS Michael Bay films. (But a Tyler score for a Transformers film would be preferable over the Jablonsky stuff.)

Just a bit of perspective, but that series wouldn't have been possible without Michael Bay. I mean his influence is all over those shots.

very good review christopher. you have described the feeling of the tracks very well. and you are right, this tyler score sounds outstanding. Battle Los Angeles Hymn is a fantastic track and already a reason for me to buy the score. i can't wait for the cd release.

Wonderful. I hope he used a real chorus. I know that he used synth one in Dragonball and The Expendables (or at least he used a real one and it's not named in the soundtrack)

    Brian has told me that:

"Oh yes for sure. There is a big live choir which I recorded at Sony and Fox recording stages."

(In regards to the did he record a live choir comment)

Battles + Choirs can equal EXCELLENCE! But it's been a long time since I've heard anything inspired. I haven't heard it but I can imagine what it's like and I bet I'm right, uninspired big loud noise like Tyler nearly always does.

I'm always honest in myself and will happily come back and say I'm wrong if I am wrong.

  5. I usually quite enjoy Tyler's "big loud noise" so am looking forward to listening to this.

I just glanced the tracklisting for Battle: LA and noticed two "Hymns" and an "Elegy". And there was me almost believing that films about aliens blowing up major population centres were getting becoming pretentious.

The hymn from Battle:la sounds like a homage to John Murphy's 28 days / weeks later material and the whole score is colored by Murphy's work.

  6. Ah, that may explain what I read on Twitter the other day. Someone commenting on how a lot filmmakers are asking composers to compose music ala John Murphy's 28 Days Later.

I'm still looking forward to hearing this.
