Brian Tyler to score FINAL DESTINATION 5

Cool. I hope he can use Shirley's theme (the full theme, he only used the six notes motif which is part of the theme)

Hey All! Who here thinks that Brian Tyler should be hired to do the score for the remake of Robocop? See article here:

    http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/2011/03/02/is … t-robocop/

    What are your thoughts?

do you agree he should be hired or do you NOT agree?

Should he keep the original theme or style of music or add his own flare to it?

i really hope it is something different this time but i doubt it.

  2. Keep Poledouris' theme for sure. If Tyler keeps his sound then yes, I think it would fit. Pumping action and heartfelt emotion - to my ears anyway.
The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn
  3. If it's a reboot, then he shouldn't because it has nothing to do with the first movies
  4. Don't agree there. Ottman used Williams' Superman theme for the reboot. Poledouris' theme is so iconic that not to have it would mean it wasn't such a Robocop movie. A reboot needs some link with the previous incarnation.

It wasn't like some kind of sequel from the second movie? That's what everybody said. Especially because of the kid

I have to say, unless Tyler writes the whole score in Poledouris's style, I'd rather he didn't use the theme. I think the worst outcome for these things is something like Tyler's Rambo, where he incorporates Goldsmith but it sounds so completely different from his own style that it's like listening to two separate scores that have been pasted together somewhat arbitrarily. All or nothing, please.

I agree. Sometimes it's better to do their own thing.

I don't really like Tyler's music and I don't care about this new Robocop remake, can't anyone make something new, fresh and original?

I really like this score. From reports i read around, it's really buried and chopped up, screwed in the otherwise crappy film but on cd it makes for a nice listen for Tyler fans.

Confession: I think this is my first post in this topic. Don't know why I clicked on it really as I'm definitely not a Tyler fan.

I can't imagine he'd be bothered, Tyler is probably a friend via Paxton ( he scored FRAILTY ) who's had parts in Cameron's films and is a friend.

    No big deal.

  8. But also scored The Greatest Game Ever Played by Paxton and the main theme is a rip-off of Legends of the Fall biggrin I think Horner COULD sue there...
