Yeah, part time. While going to college. I always work the 3pm to 11pm shift. Fun job actually. Some strange and disturbing stories come out of the hotel business. Things are generally quiet though.

Here is a good one. Some student athletes were in Gainesville for a competition and they were staying at our hotel. One group played a prank on another by calling an escort service for one of the guys. This woman showed up and the guy she was there for wouldn't except her becuase it was a prank on him (If it wasn't a prank and he called her he would have turned her away anyway). This woman was not, how you say... blessed with looks vomit . Haha, she had no teeth and a tongue ring (haha, you can guess her specialty). She wasn't getting her money so she came to the front desk demanding we pay the full amount because she had to drive like an hour and a half to get to the hotel. And were were like uh... no. So, she ended up leaving really pissed off. smile

Today at the hotel so far:

A snake managed to get into a room through an air vent on the first floor. haha

Plus, someone complained of a smell of a reefer coming out of one of the rooms.

    Good times. wink

    Not much, sadly.

Insanitarium is a very poorly scripted 2008 horror flick in the Dr. Tarr & Professor Fether vein, with an asylum director -insanely but not amusingly overacting Peter Storemare- performing "horrible experiments" on the inmates with a "new drug" Orpheum, designed to "uncover the lizard brain, to better find a cure"...or whatever. Obviously, bedlam (heh!) ensues. I switched it off halfway, when one of the inmates tears off the head of a cat. It wasn't a good film to start with, and this pretty much clinched it.
No-one of note was in it (except Deep Space 9's Armin Shimerman, who is doing a piss-poor man's Hannibal Lecter)
The music by Paul D'Amour (I kid you not) is a droning whine.

The 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror is effective in a standard stinger shock effect, eighties-horror kinda way, but with all the clichés still present, there is no surprise or real tension at all. Not very bad. Not very good.
The capable cast is up to the task (Melissa George as the much-suffering mom is very cute, though maybe too much so for the part).
Steve Jablonsky's score is effective if immemorable.

2008's Spanish smash hit [REC] about a film crew following a late-night fire brigade alarm into a Barcelona flat, and finding much, much more excitement than they bargained for, is very clever, VERY tightly directed, with a minimum of overhead and exposure, maximising the sense of growing paranoia. Not very scary, but very tense, keeping you at the edge of your seat all the time. The ending is an interesting twist on an old theme. I was entertained and impressed.
Though lead actress Manuela Velasco won't win an Oscar any time soon, her exuberance and enthusiasm (and serious cuteness...is it me or does she have a Billie Piper thing going on?) work very well.
Like any good fly-on-the-wall kind of film, there is no score.

So, one out of three ain't bad!
I just postponed Halloween a week. smile

Hey Martijn, I´m glad you liked it too! FYI, the building where the movie was shot is situated in Barcelona´s Rambla, number 34 to be exact. A lot of people went there after the movie was released here a year ago.

[REC] directors start shooting the sequel next week (November 10th) in Barcelona. The action takes place a few hours after the events of the first one.

Yeah, I actually recognized the neighbourhood! That was fun!

    Hm.
Well. We'll see. If they completely change the style and the format it might work.
But likely not, as movie history shows us time and again.
