Demetris, I was referring to Motherbaugh not you. Sorry if there's been any misunderstandings.

No, no worries, no misunderstanding. I was asking about who those top men that should pay him a visit, are smile
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  1. So my son was watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs yesterday. I just wanted to give Mark Mothersbaugh's score a shout out. I think it is PERFECT for this film. It's very good as a listen on its own, though you'll scratch your head at the very cheap 80s sound that a few track have, but that's just perfectly fitted to this bizarre and hillarious film. The music is excellent. I highly recommend you see the film if you haven't. It's unpredictable and has a very random sense of humor. I'd put it in the same category as What's Up Doc in that the funny dialogue comes across so fast that the first time you see it you miss half of it. Mr. T's character is PRICELESS. I know it's a kid's show (sort of), but it's a lot of fun, and watching the film will show you a great score in context. Super fun movie and score, highly recommended.

The film was fun, the score was entertaining and wholly fitting but utterly forgettable, to me at least.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  2. My review of the score for THE LEGO MOVIE, for anyone who is interested:

I can't stand this man's music. Wonder if I am the only one.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. I've always had a soft spot for THE LIFE AQUATIC. Definitely music that requires a sense of humour... and a pretty particular one at that. smile

  4. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is pretty much the only score of his that I really enjoy. The Lego Movie was too all over the place for me (and I say that as someone who really likes John Powell).

This statement sums up the score for me.
Thor Ragnarok is, by far, his most impressive orchestral work to date; the thematic content, the richness of the orchestrations, the intelligence and the scope of the writing, the technical excellence, and the emotional impact, is all first rate. But the best thing of all, for me, is the way he blends this bold orchestral and choral writing with the electronics.

Except for the fact that the string was mixed too far back.
