I finally have a cell phone from the 21th century. My old one was from the 18th century, I believe. Now I have to make a monumental and life-altering decision. Which Morricone melody should I use as my ringtone?

I don't want anything too common. Any doofus out there can have The good, the bad and the ugly. I don't want anything too obscure either, as it would be cool if someone else recognized it from time to time.

    Suggestions?

The concert in Brussels (palais 12) seem to have been postponed to Friday - 27/06/2014 (like the US dates I guess).

Great stuff, James! thumbsup I remember when it wasn't released in 2008 as that was a great disappointment. I just got the score and will read your review while playing the tracks in question.

Gives me hope that Mi ricordo Anna Frank will be released sooner or later as well.

Review of Professione Figlio... a masterpiece:

    http://www.movie-wave.net/professione-figlio/

From your review, " If you take a punt on my recommendation I expect you to listen to the opening track and wonder if I've lost my mind..." Very true. The clip of this track (and track 12) is an immediate switch off for me. But there does seem to be a lot more to this score if you get past those.

Definitely not a 5-star album to my ears - two tracks from thirteen that are "unlistenable" guarantee that! - but could be work hearing in full for the rest.

  5. But, one thing that hunting down Professione Figlio is that I also discovered, Il Lungo Silenzio. Now this is a really good one! Lots of great tracks - "In Morte di Un Magistrato" is particularly excellent - and quite different from what's heard in the first track.

Have you heard Il Lungo Silenzio, James?

I have. Very good! I didn't really think anything in Professione Figlio was near the "unlistenable" side of Morricone, either.

Sometimes I can be pretty ruthless when it comes to my likes and dislikes. A combination of the jaunty tempo and high woodwind (whatever it is) are an instant "unlistenable" for me. Either component by themselves aren't automatic dislikes but as soon as I heard the woodwind it was a "NO"
