His music was really impressive for The Last King of Scotland.

"Towers of the Void" is the only track worth hearing on this for me.

Pseudo-gothic neo-pop orchestral rubmlings. Also, someone should stop this woman from making any film ever again.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

  4. I just got this in e-mail:

A unique improvised album from film composer Alex Heffes

    featuring

Regina Spektor, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yasmin Levy, Matthew Barley, Tunde Jegede and Kawesa.

The Face to Face website is officially live.

    www.face-to-face-album.com

Visit the website to download your free track today!

Face to Face is the new album project from leading film composer Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, Touching the Void). It brings together the diverse talents of Regina Spektor, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yasmin Levy, Matthew Barley, Tunde Jegede and Kawesa in a series of one-on-one improvised duets with Alex.

Face to Face was created in locations ranging from Kampala, Uganda, to a disused factory in the Bronx to London's Tate Modern Gallery and Abbey Road Studios. Each track gives the listener a unique insight into the moment when a musical idea is born. The album was beautifully recorded by Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Henderson (Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck) and Flood (U2, Sigur Rós, The Killers) with stunning photos from photographer Rama Knight. An animated short film for the track Balloon Girl (Regina Spektor/Alex Heffes) was also created by visual artist Yibi Hu.

"The question I get asked more than any other is "where do you get your inspiration from?" One day, out of the blue it occurred to me that the neatest way of answering this question would be to make a record that was totally improvised - to invite the audience in where they are usually off-limits to witness the spark of an idea as it gets created. Face to Face has become my answer." Alex Heffes

In late 2015, composer Alex Heffes recorded his music for the new Hulu miniseries, 11.22.63. Based on Stephen King’s thrilling novel, the miniseries produced by JJ Abrams is about a man who travels back in time to try to stop the assassination of President Kennedy. ScoringSessions.com is excited to bring our readers exclusive photos from one of the sessions!

Listening to this now. It's lovely. He's done quite a few African flavoured scores now, hasn't he?

Was it The First Grader that was performed in Ghent that time?
