    NP: Godzilla - David Arnold

Not in the mood to listen to the entire 2CD set (although it plays brilliantly) so I've decided to play a select 58 minute edited version. Lots of LOUD stuff!

    Casino Royale David Arnold

I'm listening to my edited version of an Arnold score too. Pretty much just cut out a lot of the boring underscore, which makes for an awesome album. And what a song!

ID4 came out when I was 7. I saw it twice in theaters. As a kid it is a real thrill ride. It is fun to watch it and take a trip back.

This cracked me up as a kid. My mom went to high school with the farmer grasping part of his dead crop wondering where the crop duster is. haha

Did you think of doing the same for QOS? Has anyone done it? How much total running time has the QOS score once you exclude the underscore?

NP - Hancock - John Powell

I decided to give this score a chance again. As a superhero score it FAILS COMPLETELY. But as just an album of music for a dramatic movie with some action flourishes, it's extremely organic and affecting and somewhat gorgeous at point. The orchestration and arrangements are quite diverse and subtle, albeit, not very original given that he's done all of it before in scores like I Am Sam, Gigli, Drumline, and Jumper. The coalescence of these diverse elements really help imbuing a sense of personal intimacy between you and the characters. Overall, it's been a really good re-listening experience.

No. The answer is 0 minutes. All music written for film is underscore. If you get rid of the underscore from the QOS album you are left with 0 minutes.

And isn't it funny that quite a few of the over-the-top culturally conservative patriotic films made in America are made... by Germans! Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich (Germany) made ID4 and The Patriot. Wolfgang Peterson (Germany) made Air Force One and The Perfect Storm. So what's going on there? wink

    Except for the song. wink
(Though technically, since that's not source music, unlike Necros song from THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, it is also being used as underscore.)

    Just kidding...

I love my country, but I'm not one of those that thinks we are the greatest country of all time... cause we have only been around erm... like 227 years.

I was playing:Tomorrow Never Dies (Arnold)

I can't finish never the listening. I find it boring.

I love some cues like "kobooy bay", "All day's work" ...and of Course, "Backseat Driver". But the rest...( special mention to Bike chase with this over the top Taikos....)

Surrender theme is one gorgeous, though. If only it was more used in the score...

I prefer Arnold's posteriors efforts in Bond movies than this one (Yes, even Die another Day)

NP:The World is not enough (Arnold)

Yeah! much better....the song is very dark and dramatic. I love that tune!

"Electra theme" is beautiful, and tracks like "Pimpiline" are pure Dynamite.
  3. Just played: The Boy in Striped Pyjamas (Horner)

Except for: 'The Funeral' and the almost chirpy end credits cue
My opinion: I agree with all who have praised it. This is a very strong effort from Horner.

    NP: Howl's Moving Castle (Hisaishi)

In anticipation of the new Ponyo, I thought I'd revisit this excellent fantasy score.
