ALBERTO IGLESIAS - sex and Lucia
Some incredibly dark textures in there, didn't expect to hear something like that from Iglesias! At most parts it sounds like something Badalamenti would have written. Very interesting ambience, captivating darkness. But then again some delicately fragile pieces like the piano waltz of "El Faro: Cuanto Llevo de Ventajas" or the immensely charming small-ensemble musical trip of "Puedo Hablar Contigo?" come along just to remind you who you're listening to; or the haunting beauty of the piano / cello waltz in "Encuentro"....Class, elegance, beauty. I find myself deeply loving Iglesias' music with time.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Indeed, I am not Iglesias´biggest fan, but this particular score (and movie) is excellent.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

The Lazarus Project (Brian Tyler) - in the movie
Why do I like Tyler more everytime? Maybe because after big, bold, fast paced, brassy projects such as "War", "AVP:R", "Rambo" and "Eagle Eye" and a moody / atmospheric action score like "Bangkok Dangerous" he gives us "The Lazarus Project", a score based around a beautiful main theme (performed by Tyler himself at the piano or cello) plus the kind of underscore the likes of Cliff Martinez or David Julyan usually do. There are also some action cues, not as powerful and big as his usual action writing though (not that the movie need those actually).
How many instruments can he play by the way? I didn´t know he could play cello.

Finished with my previous IGLESIAS exploration which left me stunned and with a smaller, better custom playlist without the dark droning underscore. Excellent score; now i've moved to the wholly different, lighter and more melodic but equally impressive listen of BAD EDUCATION. If i take into consideration the fact that i played several BRUNO COULAIS scores on repeat throughout this week to my utmost pleasure, i think i am in a certain phase here. And oh how much i love it.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Hmmmm? Like... um... you know... what's it called... that score... THE DANCER UPSTAIRS. Seriously, that's where you go for dark Iglesias textures.
LUCIA's a top score however. Great fit to the picture. Covers the gamut of emotions nicely. And mostly is played by six instruments, including the keyboard pads. A very elegant score constructed on a miniscule budget.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

I like this, dark Hermannesque atmospheres and captivating string work as always with Roque. At parts, through the softer and soothing piano and woodwinds and dancy rhythms, it reminds me of Alberto Iglesias as well.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Continued with THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE. A short score that combined with the Beethoven piano sonatas on cd, make for a rather pleasant musical experience. Burwell's score is more offbeat and melancholic but quite pleasant as a listening experience.

The Oxford Crimes is like an extension to his scores for The Machinist and The Kovak Box plus a very nice love theme.
