Earlier today I gave my undivided attention to....
ATLANTIS : THE LOST EMPIRE - James Newton Howard
All I can say is WHAT THE FECK DID I HAVE JAMMED IN MY LUG HOLES when I last heard this?
Excellent score! I can't wait to play it again.
Erik, Lee & Steven....you were so right! On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP : DIE ANOTHER DAY - David Arnold
This "weakest" of Arnold's Bond scores has gradually become a favourite of mine.....at least, once I dodge the horrifying very first track
I thought it had a VERY poor CD release. Missing lots and lots of the highlights. -

I know the 'mickey mousing' may not be to everyone taste, but there's still plenty there to enjoy for those who don't. -

Oh definitely! The highlight for me was one of the tracks Erik mentioned, the awesomely cosmic The Crystal Chamber with full orchestra and choir. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP Madagascar 2 - Escape to Africa (Hans Zimmer)
The first track is really promising (an expanded version of Zoosters Breakout) but after those 4 minutes the rest is the very same crap as the first one. Avoid at all costs.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Ok.
NP - Quantum Of Solace
Damn it, I really want "Crawl, End Crawl", but I see why it didn't make it on to the OST. -

I love the album for Die Another Day. As a score I'm not so sure it helps to make a very bad film any good. -

I find all the Bond films, good and bad, watchable. I watched Die Another Day on ITV2 the other night and paid special attention to the music, it certainly doesn't make the film any worse.
The film is right up there with Octopussy as the biggest Bond stinker.

You love the fact it's missing things like Surf's Up, Kiss Of Life, Wheelchair Access, Ice Palace Intro, Ice Spy, and In Cold Pursuit? -

Yeah, great stuff on that complete album. The Erewhon and Loft cues were some of the best writing ever to come out of the MV school.

I keep hearing MV/RC references and references to a bunch of temps. But it's an enjoyable mix. -

NP: Perfume: Story of a Murderer (Tykwer/Heil/Klimek)
So beautiful. I never knew the guys who were responsible for electronic scores for films such as Land of the Dead and Run Lola Run were capable of producing such an elegant, awe-inspiring and yet delicate score. Even if the the orchestration and conductor Simon Rattle are more responsible for the end product, it's simply a beautiful and well-performed score nonetheless.http://unsungfilmscores.blogspot.com/ -- My film/TV/game score review blog -

NP: "Jounetsu Tairiku (A Passionate Continent)" & "Etupirika" - Taro Hakase
(The opening & ending themes from a documentary series.
The tracks I own are track1&15 from this compilation album)
I went to a shopping center today and saw 3 women performing this to promote Yamaha music school!
So I wanted to listen to the original.
(Yesterday a cell phone retailer playing Star Wars near the same shopping center, lol)

My favourite Randy Newman score, it's so fun, with addictive themes! Thank God for the isolated score track on DVD! Hope Disney does that with some more upcoming Blu-Ray releases...
Do you have the expanded Oscar promo?
Yup, I do. But I've noticed the OST also has tracks which are NOT on the Oscar promo!! Nevertheless it's a great listening experience.
I'd rather hope the Academy Promo of The Lion King gets out some day!! -
