This movie is seriously vomit-inducing. I saw the trailer the other day and it actually ached.

  2. It reads like a love trist:

Sure, that's where it always starts.

19 Howard Shore Wedding Plans 06:12

    Ahhh, gettin' hitched.

the soundclips aren't bad. it's a good mix of twilight 1 and 2. i like that kind of dark orchestral/electronic music.

I know. Well, if SEX AND THE CITY 2 can be a blockbuster along with this glitter white boy here, i've lost faith in humanity smile

I lost faith in humanity ever since Big Momma's House 2 became a blockbuster nr. 1 hit.
  3. How can you have a six minute cue called WEDDING PLANS? And that's the climax?!

It's 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' what we are talking about. Never forget it.

  4. Now that I think about it, I can imagine a deus ex machina-like development where a personification of love, the deity called Wedding, finally reveals herself and in a display of awesome aphrodisiacal power, marries off all the major characters in a six minute montage.

I'm hearing something like Powell/Gregson-Williams' 'Building the Crate' (CHICKEN RUN) or Elfman's 'Plan' cue (CHARLOTTE'S WEB).

    biggrin

actually, the scene probably is little more than it sounds like. it's just that there's a love triangle so the fact that a wedding is being planned is like, sad. and stuff.

I have listend to Shores "Eclips" now several times and I really am not that excited yet about this score...
For me this score is kind of... I don't know... lacking (something). Anyway....

I like the Jacob's theme and the battle track... they are nice.

Would love to see James Horner doing the next one (after "Karate Kid" maybe even possible wink ).

I'm kinda disappointed too. The quieter moments like Bella's theme are good, but the electric guitar in action tracks sounds even worse than that in Carter Burwell's score. The action material is very dark and dissonant, nothing close to the ones in LoTR or Soul Of Ultimate Nation (though the final battle track has some good moments). Perhaps it works well in the film, but I have no interest in seeing that!

When I saw the film, the only cue that really engaged me was the final one. And that one was quite stunning. But the rest of the score was forgettable.

This is what i heard, from guys that went and saw it and laughed their asses off to a degree they were asked to shut up or leave the hall, by the cinema's personell. Still, i'd rather be stoned instead of this wink

I think Shore was paying homage to both Burwell and Desplat. All of the Victoria-focused scenes in the movie have a bit of the electric guitar (and was probably cut down during dubbing), but it's mostly orchestral. The movie is definitely funny (especially the villain's demise), but the earlier scenes are a bit darker due to the director's resume (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night).

And since Bill Condon is directing the 2-part finale, he'll likely bring back Burwell instead of Summit picking another composer.

  7. BILL CONDON???

Are they nuts? Next time they get Paul Thomas Anderson!

Apparantly this information has been known for 2 weeks already, but I just saw this on Doug Adams' blog:

Lord of the Rings Symphony Set to Record

I've been sitting on this information for several months, but since word is now making its way across message boards (including our own Ongoing Discussion), I'll confirm:

The Lord of the Rings Symphony is set to record this February in Luzern, Switzerland with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and the 21st Century Chorus. Additional details are yet to come, including conductor, soloists, release date, and format. But the wheels are in motion!

    http://www.musicoflotr.com/2010/07/lord … ecord.html

    Great news! punk
  10. It will finally be possible to hear Shore's music without Kurlander's murky recording. Yay.
