Do you know of any composers actually being IN the movie they have scored?

    For example:

    - Chris Young is in Spider-Man 3 as a piano player at a theater.
    - David Arnold is in Little Britain twice - once as the Prime Minister's aid and once as a guy working at a taxi firm.

    Any more? angelic

Wasn't James Horner in a Star Trek film?
  1. Yes, he was an extra in Wrath of Khan.

Goldsmith also appeared in the first Gremlins.

    Wasn't that an urban myth?
    I can't find any references...(though I haven't looked very thoroughly).

Probably the biggest role by a composer in a film is JOHN BARRY conducting his Romance For Guitar and Orchestra in a twenty minute robbery sequence in the Michael Caine film DEADFALL.

Barry can also be seen conducting the orchestra at the end of Bond film THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS.

  5. Composers conducting classical music or a piece created film is popular.

Red Dragon comes to mind. The film was scored by Elfman, of course, but the conductor in the film's opening scene is Rattner's most often collaborator

  8. Poledouris was not in the films, he was in a regular TOS episode.

There's two or three FSM threads on this with a bunch of stuff, including composers in films they didn't end up scoring (which is always suspcious to me).

Someone said, perhaps it was Dan, that that is not Shore in Kong. After his score was rejected someone else did his scene or they put a different face on the guy, or maybe it was never him to begin with. Don't really recall much.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.

Kenji Kawai was one of the lead characters of the Momoru Oshii film called Tachiguishi retsuden (2006). He also did the score.
  10. Howard Shore was also an extra in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. In the Rohan feast scene (with that Merry and Pippins song).

Roque Baños in The Oxford Crimes. First appearance conducting an orchestra rehearsal (and even saying a little sentence!) and the second one conducting the orchestra the night of the concert.
