It's nice to see Trumpp getting credited now, considering he wrote practically half of Die Hard 4.

I would do if I knew him! I guess what I'm really interested in is whether he came on board for an artistic reason, or if it was just a case of Beltrami not having time to do it all himself, or maybe having to rewrite some stuff quickly because his original versions weren't liked by the filmmakers. I guess a similar question applies to Buck Sanders and his involvement in Max Payne.

Sanders worked on the synthesizer for many Beltrami scores. Max Payne is a score that requires heavy electronic manipulation, which is probably why he's credited as co-composer.

    KNOWING
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Marco Beltrami

    Nicolas Cage

Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Leaving Las Vegas) stars in KNOWING, a gripping action-thriller of global proportions about a professor who stumbles on terrifying predictions about the future — and sets out to prevent them from coming true.

In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule’s contents and the girl’s cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Koestler. But it is Caleb’s father, professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As Ted further unravels the document’s chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events — the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son. When Ted’s attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

KNOWING is the latest film from acclaimed director Alex Proyas, who created the stylish sci-fi classics The Crow, I, Robot and Dark City.

The apocalyptic score is by Marco Beltrami.

Summit Entertainment opens KNOWING nationwide on March 20.

I know one should always take these press releases with a pinch of salt... but that adjective "apocalyptic" can rarely be a bad thing when describing a film score!

Anybody who knows if Beltrami will be scoring the danish film "Fri os fra det onde", directed by Ole Bornedal (whom he has worked with four times previously)? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1272012/

My guess is, though, that it will not be the case, since the movie premieres in about a month, and no composer has been announced. So there's probably not gonna be any traditional score in the film...

I like Marco Beltrami's score for "I,Robot", even though it received negative responses from critics as well as from audiences. May be this score didn't have strong emotional themes but score worked really in the movie. This score completely rocks... I think this score is totally underrated one.

Where did it receive negative responses? I think you'll find that Beltrami's score was generally well received.

I know that. In fact, if you see his reviews for scores like Congo, Spirit: Stallion of Cimaron, Dead Man's Chest etc were negative, he gave one or two stars. That was totally unfair. What do you say?

I agree but as a critic, he should give some credit to composers, especially for their hard works and sincere attempts. Is it not?

That's just his taste, I guess. He also gave very high rating to scores like Prince Caspian and Goblet Of Fire which I personally feel aren't THAT good.

Regarding I,Robot I'm not really a fan of Beltrami but I feel this one is a very fine score.

I,Robot is my second favourite Beltrami score after Die Hard 4. Considering he wrote I,Robot in two weeks as well is incredibly impressive.
