Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

I probably watched this one 50 times between the ages of 7 and 10. And I hadn't watched it since, until last night. Very enjoyable film, despite a couple of flaws (and not being as good as its predecessor). Williams's score is so strong, too - one of his very best.

It was one of my most played films too. But now I consider this Indiana jones movie the weakest of the whole saga. I wan't to be missunderstood, it's a terrific action film, but Willie is annoying, the mcguffin is not too strong, and Spielberg and his "chieldrens" are too sugarish.

anyaway, Ford muscles shines as ever. And it could be a Bruckheimer production. moon

LOL at your final comment. And at the mcguffin not being too strong, because I have no idea what that means.

I love it when the children are rescued from the mine and all run outside. Someone had obviously said to them "cover your eyes because you've just been underground for ages so the sunlight will be very bright!" but only about three out of two hundred of them remembered to do it, so those ones look really quite odd.

    Enchanted

Well, it's enchanting. Who could fail to fall in love with Amy Adams in this? It's very witty, too. Great songs and score. Very impressed.

    48 Hours

I don't know what it says about me that I preferred watching Enchanted to 48 Hours, but there you go. I did. The racism disturbed me (just how naturally it came to the characters), there isn't a single likeable character in the film, and I can't watch Nick Nolte in anything without thinking of that famous mugshot photo. Still, I think I would quite like to hear the score on CD, even if only to marvel at the Capricorn One rip-offs.

Never noticed that. I will when I rewatch the film. You know how it is with group scenes. You see someone else do or not do something, you just look at the guy next to you and imitate, screw the director's orders. biggrin

Well, then you will get a kick out of the Basket Chase scene in Raiders where the extras continuous walk in one direction, stop and then start back the other way, stop turn around and continue walking. I think a few of them even look at the camera.

Yes, I loved the movie. Amy Adams is so lovelyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... and the songs very addictive and charming. This movie succes where Lilo and Sitch didn't.

    HEAT

I remeber this movie be a little bit boring in his time. But now, Where we I used to watch 3 hours sillyness like Pirates of Caribean saga, this movie is a real masterpiece.

A great classic, with great cast, great filmaker, great composer..... I want more movies like these!!!

(The Dark Knight is not half so good, ok...maybe it is...)
  3. Heat is an amazing action thriller with amazing characters, indeed.

Yeah, and we had this "she's got a GREAT ass"moment from Pacino a lot too much in his last films.

    The Invasion

    mmm...I liked it!

It has awful reviews, and a bad run in the box office. But I enjoyed a lot this remake.

Kidman botox is not so "present" in his acting , Craig is strong as always, and the film is always entertaning.

The fact, the main argument is about Kidman trying to "infiltrate" into the "bodysnatchers" make some kind of continuation of the last scene from Kaufman movie.

yeah, I like the movie too. Nothing amazing but it isn't that bad at all. true, this is a typical Body Snatchers rip off but I liked it smile

It's a shame really. The guy's a great movie star, but too often these days he's in self-parody territory (see also: Robert de Niro).

Example: Righteous Kill. I felt sorry for them watching that movie (artistically of course, I´m sure they earned a good amount of money for that).

  6. De Niro is so good in HEAT, I wonder if he ever had it in him to be good again.

Also very strong is Val Kilmer.

Sadly, the answer seems to be no. He was a seriously good actor in his day. Probably the best around at what he did.

It's Val Kilmer's best part, isn't it? Though I haven't seen The Doors yet.

No, THIS is Val Kilmer's best role.

In all seriousness, Kilmer was excellent in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

    Wild Wild West

I saw this film when it was first released. Ever since, I've defended it whenever it's come up in conversation (as you can imagine, it regularly comes up in conversation) as not being nearly as bad as people make out. Ten years on, I've seen it again - and I must have been drunk the first time I saw it, or something. What a wretched, awful, dire film. Shame on everyone involved. Even Elmer Bernstein's score (which I quite like on album) seems to struggle to find the right tone most of the time.

I agree with both statements. It is, IMO, De Niro´s best performence (ok, followed very close by Taxi Driver and Goodfellas) and Kilmer´s best: his look at the end of Heat when he gets warned by his girlgriend that it´s a trap is brilliant.

Raging Bull without a doubt for me closely followed by Taxi Driver. He's brilliant in Goodfellas too but Joe Pesci steals the film.

Kiss Kiss bang bang is a great film, but it doesn't have even the category of cult movie . sad
