Erik's is superior, no doubt about that. But I don't get the "selections from" either. Most commercial soundtracks are "selections from", but never include that in the title. It's like that odd FAR & AWAY credit, which read "Music TAKEN FROM The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack". Taken from?

I thought you'd be the one that would have supported this. Don't you agree that the album contains only SELECTIONS from the original score?

BTW, the ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK tag has abothered me since day one since technically if the album WAS indeed the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK it should also contain sound effects and dialogue.

Yes, but don't you think it somehow insinuates that it's a LESSER experience because you're not getting the whole thing?

Well, 'soundtrack' is a word with multiple meanings. It's the soundtrack of the film with, as you say, effects and dialogue (on separate "sound tracks", but merged into one in the end) and then it's the purely musical entity sold on album as a spin-off product. Can be confusing for some, especially since the word 'score' also has multiple meanings (written score sheets, original instrumental score, 'pop score' etc.).

I don't know... does it? tongue wink I think the SLECTIONS tag tells the consumer exactly what they are going to get just like the tag COMPLETE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE tells them exactly what they are going to get.

Perhaps. To me, though, it's really irrelevant WHAT it's called. It could say "music pulled out of a donkey's ass" and I wouldn't blink. All I care about is how it holds up as a "singular album entity".

  1. Music Pulled Out of a Donkey's Ass

    Composed by Steve Jablonsky
    Executive Produced by Hans Zimmer

    Yes, makes sense.

Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  2. How exactly does one pull music from a donkey's ass? And more importantly, is it painful for the donkey? These are the questions I need answered.

The fact that you don't know is why you are not skilled and knowledgeable enough to work for Remote Control Studios, while Steve Jablonsky is. smile
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

Since no one else seems to have made one, here is my attempt at a better New Moon cover. It's not spectacular but anything beats the original:

Wow, the difference when you compare them is amazing... the original looks so cheap, unbelievable, could be a CD from the one dollar basket or something.

    Well done Erik! :whip:
