But why should everything on sale in England be English? Accept another language! Get accustomed to other cultures, just like we are getting everything in your language! wink We never get translated covers, and that's absolutely fine by me. I'm even ashamed I got the English cover on A Very Long Engagement; it should've been Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles.

Heh, you should visit Czech Republic or something. They translate and dub everything as well. We laughed our asses of in a DVD store where they sold Ally McBealová, Jursky Park and Pan V?elka:

Seriously, I always prefer original language, both written and especially spoken, because it's the way it was meant to be!!

The French titles are weird too...

Last year's "Disturbia" became "Paranoïak" in France... shocked vomit

Can someone please make a decent Crystal Skull cover? I really cannot stand the original one. The ''Composed by John Williams'' font is disgusting, and the fact it's a "wide" cover means I can't even get a good copy of it for my iPod. I'm struggling to do anything good on my own, so can someone have a stab at one!

That set I was talking about earlier is actually a Indy set of covers. I'm not quiet happy with all four of them yet, but they are coming along. wink

Here we go. There isn't really anything visually that ties these covers together (except putting something in front of the Indy logo); I just wanted to utilize the art from the films a bit differently than the retail covers.

    Raiders of the Lost Ark

    The Temple of Doom

    The Last Crusade

    Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Note: I'm also working on one for Raiders that excludes the "Indiana Jones" title, but I'm having trouble finding an appropriate Raiders logo in high-res. The Indiana Jones logo was easy to find because of the new movie, but not so much the other way around.

Sweet. Where do you get your fonts Luis? And how do you get them to have "texture" as in Dark Knight?
  3. Thanks!

Well, about the fonts I usually look for them on the net, actually I can identify many fonts of the film logos. A cool site to get fonts is UPSEROS, and also I use my Corel Draw CD installer because in there is included a folder with many many fonts.

About texture in Dark Knight, what do you mean? I just used the fonts with color and no texture, but... maybe I understood wrong your question rolleyes

Anyway you all know that any help you need I'll be glad to give a hand wink

It just looks like the font for DN is "there". It kinda blends in with the background, rather than just being a solid colour.
  4. Yeah you're right, I didn't realize that, but I just insert the font and rendered everything, maybe was an effect when I saved the file dizzy

Shadow and/or blur effects and/or something similar were probably used. With some programs this is configured automatically, so Luis might not even be aware of the exact effect being used. It's not that hard in Gimp or photoshop. I use Photofiltre for my covers at the moment, but that is a very basic program, I should use Gimp in the future but all the random floating windows annoy me tongue

  5. Well, sometimes depending of the cover I want to make I use different effects to the fonts like shadows or textures, in the case of Dark Knight I didn't but it looks that I did biggrin

    Anyway... keep coming the covers!

Really like the one for Beyond Rangoon. Is that poster art or an original creation?
  6. Thanks, is a different poster and logo I found and I modified a bit because the left side was at the very bottom. I try always to not modify the posters to keep the original idea but sometimes I must to fit sizes wink

    Very nice cover.
But I have no hope for the score. That way, if it is good, I will be happily surprised!

    OK! How come?
Seriously. If it was yet another Powell / RC / Zimmer thingy everyone would be pre-banging like crazy! We're talking James Newton Howard here, a composer beyond questionableness on a new Shyamalan assignment - for whom he has deliver his most outstanding works to date and you tell us you "have no hopes" for the score? It's friggin illogical man.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I didn't even know JNH and Shyamalabananaman worked together. What scores should I check out? wink

But, yeah, I'm really looking forward to the score. Not a single one of their collaborations has been a let down and has certainly lead to some of Howard's best work.
  9. Totally agree with all, their collaboration is so rich that JNH gave us his best efforts, every score has themes that are awesome cues... I definetely won't miss The Happening.

I have no hope for the same reason people should have had lower expectations for the new Indy score....Lady in the Water was so fabulous that if I expect something equally or surpassingly stunning, I will most likely be disappointed. Better to keep expectations low and be surprised!

Lady in the water? Not a big fan but if you add THE VILLAGE, SIGNS, SIXTH SENSE and the beautiful UNBREAKABLE to all the lot, you can clearly get why people have hopes for this one wink We're talking top-class film music here.
