  1. Okay, I'm a newbie to composing ( I can notate and read a little), and I have pretty much a zero budget.

Can anyone suggest any nice freeware programs for making music? Decent free orchestra samples and so forth.

    Anybody?

  2. No freeware samples are decent, really.

Depends on your system. If you have Linux, Rosengarden (spelling) is a good idea, MAYBE there is a Windows version. The program is GPL and is compared to Cubase.

  3. Windows based. I'll work with crap samples for now, if need be.

  4. Check out the Rosengarden thing. It should have a website on sourceforge.net.

    Reason.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  5. Yeah, but it's not Linux here. Would that make a difference?

Try beginning using FL Studio. Very user-friendly and you'll get used to it soon. Later you can switch to Cubase.
  6. I created my first piece -- tok forever to learn basics of FL Studio, which was overhwelming on stuff even in small areas of the screen. tongue

Anyway, it's a wonderful piano piece which I hope to ad to my MySpace page later today; the music functions are down currently they say. Will create more in the future. smile
