Topic revival alert !!!!
So has anybody installed Windows 7?
I've never bothered with Vista. How's it like compared to WinXP Pro? Faster / slower?
Will I be able to use all its features on a nearly 3 year old machine? It was top of the line at that moment.
I've recently installed 2 additional gigs of RAM, so I have 4 now: should I go 64-bit, will my machine cope?
These are my specs:
AMD AM2 X2 Athlon Dual-core 64 5200
4 gigs RAM DDR2-667
Asus 8800 GT"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Wait a few months, when some more programs, drivers, and assorted crap will have found their way on your system.
While my system is stable and well maintained, using WinXP, I still get the BSOD sometimes when it's booting up."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Well, i have the following:
ZERO CRAP, as in i only installed strictly what i use on daily basis. Nothing more. Nor games, apart fs2004 of course and from time to time, the newest need for speed or dirt.
Directx 11 sdk
Regvac
ccleaner (can' t have a system without these 2)
Panda internet security 2010
spybot search and destroy
for defrag (which is very frequent) i only use the default windows defragmenter tool 'cause everything else hangs up the system terribly (diskeeper discrapper).
digidesign pro tools
sony vegas
adobe premiere and photoshop
adobe audition
sony dvd creator
nero
revo uninstaller, from which i control what starts up automatically (also through run--> "msconfing" of course) so that i have only 2-3 processes on auto
some k-lite codes and flash player blah blah
That's it. My system works like a charm, but i make sureLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -
