Photo of the day

My photo of the day comes from my 2000 amateur action adventure film, Of Fortune and Glory. This was one of the last scenes we shot on location in Georgian's Bay. I wanted the classic sunset/hero kisses heroine shot and I got it! We were on a 50 feet cliff and had only about 45 minutes to get the shot. The final shot in the movie doesn't look at good as this photo though. This was taken by my girlfriend at the time who is an accomplished photographer herself. One of my very favorite pictures she took during production.

The photographer comes out in me when I see the overall nice picture from Erik. My problem is I always want to make them perfect and have blown countless photos as a result.
And that's the way of the photographer Tom. Of the thousands of photos I have it's only a smaller selection I show to people. Photography is an expensive hobby if you're not working in a proffessional capacity.
Indeed. I recently bought a good camera (my first) and am trying to get as much practice as possible before going on safari. Taking good pictures is not easy though. You can try to get a good feel for framing (ie the human element) but you do need to have the technical ability to switch the camera off auto some times if you want decent stuff, which is what I'm hoping to teach myself. I'm learning, it's quite hard! -

Switching it OFF AUTO is always the crucial step my friend, for really good photographs to be captured. I am not saying it can't be done via auto, but still, you'll never use that when you learn to truly master your camera.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Look at the background before you take the picture. Try to have your center of interest off center. Use the auto bracketing feature to get different kinds of looks in a particular scene. The nice thing about digital is the trash can button!!!listen to more classical music! -

Going OFF AUTO was an essential in my Himalayan photos where the intense light would give wrong meter readings, a very handy tip that was given to me by a proffessional while I was there, to be on the safe side I took two shots of each pic going one to two F-stops higher than what the camera was telling me.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Yeap. Although 90% of the times, OFF AUTO means (at least) a tripod and (optionally) lens filters. But wonders come out of this when you REALLY KNOW your camera, no matter how expensive and flashy it is, it won't produce special photos until you actually learn to master it.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

No risk of upsetting anyone with today's photo - at least I think not.
I had just stepped out the front door to be confronted with this. For a moment I though that THE END HAD COME!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

This was a simple shot of buttons. The key is the lighting, especially the color temperature. If some of you remember I used this for my picture when I was rooting for Benjamin Button for a time.

Maybe I should have touched the photo up to remove it! It spoils the illusion of nuclear devastation! The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Definitely Chester and probably Manchester as well. And Holywell!
This photo was taken from just outside my front door and it's probably looking more-or-less due east. The inverted "Y" to the left of the cloud column is the Dee Bridge (http://www.orange-imaging.co.uk/html/industrial_4.html) that crossed the River Dee at the head of the Dee Estuary.
The cloud itself is steam from one of the two power generators at the head of the estuary. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Today's photo of the day is "Reflection".
This is a photo I took with a point-and-shoot film camera!! It has been scanned in - so it doesn't look quite as good as the other photos. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Normally unless the ball is in the photo and it is a bit sharper I won't even keep it but in this case the action and especially the dust were so good I had to keep it. We won the game 5-3 which put a smile on my tired face as I left the stadium.
