    Trailer's out.

    Love it.

I am a sucker for Tony Scott, Denzel Washington and when Travolta goes evil, it's a rather enjoyable ride. Apart from that, HARRY GREGSON WILLIAMS seems to do good ONLY with Tony Scott during the last 5 years so why not wink

Some films should be left well enough alone.

Ooh, and it's out a day before my birthday! cheesy

That does look pretty good, and I too love Travolta going evil (I recently saw Swordfish which I enjoyed as well).

    I haven't seen that - and don't suppose I ever will.

Can somebody please explain to me - what's the point of remaking a GOOD film? What on earth are you ever going to achieve by doing so?

    Totally!

The original is a classic, this remake at best will be "watchable".

beer Unfortunately I have seen the Stallone remake.

I know I don't need to say this but I'll still give my opinion on watching it with one word....

Unfortunately Hollywood feels, like it or not, that if they can make money on it they'll remake it. Nothing is sacred.

It's not like it got a crappy little remake, is it? Tony Scott is one very good filmmaker imo, with a distinct personal style.

If you like Tony Scott then I guess it's not a problem. Sadly, I don't. When was his last good film? Spy Game?

Well, all of them? I thought all, Man on Fire, Domino, Deja vu had a very distinct character in them, something special in their own terms.

The Coen brothers are great film makers and even they have they're odd blip or two, most glaringly with the totally unecessary remake of Ealing classic THE LADY KILLERS.

p.s. Tony Scott is nowhere near the league of the Coen's.

One thing is for sure... we aren't going to get a score nearly as good as Shire's classic!

Agreed. Man on Fire and Domino (and their precursor, SpyGame) were very influential in term of influencing the current visual style of cinema.

Since we're really comparing a visual filmmaker with two brothers who are only good (not all the time) when they write and direct their own stuff.

Yeap, Tony Scott isn't the greatest filmmaker out there for sure, but you have to remember people we're in 2009. New things will inevitably happen and i think Tony Scott is at least one of the slick and original new things to happen.

I wonder if this new guy Tony Scott will link up with one of the up-and-coming composers out there, someone like John Williams or Ennio Morricone perhaps.
