  1. Did you notice the JWAS like music? Who elese was emidiately reminded of Richard Dreyfuss / Hooper sitting in a shark cage with Bruce stopping by?
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

I didn't realise this is part of a new BBC series.

THE POLAR BEAR FAMILY & ME is on BBC 2 right now, hopefully the conclusion to that clip will be resolved in this nights show.

we'd have both known that info if we'd read the comments below rolleyes shame

p.s. I like the music so far.

    There are two reasons why I know the polar bear will just wander off after some time;

    1. The guy in the cage is doing the voice over on the clip.

    2. Had he died, I doubt it would've been broadcasted (though not a guarantee) biggrin

Lets hope the polar bear didn't see this movie.

10/10 Francis biggrin beer I enjoyed the program.

p.s. CUJO? Crap book ( the worst King novel I've read ) and even crappier film.

p.p.s. Snooker starts on BBC this Sunday cool

I think Cujo is an ok horror movie for two reasons; the Bernstein score and the fact I'm not a fan of dogs, guess that helps. They are actually screening it in Brussels this friday, start of a Stephen King themed program for this month. I might go and see some of the movies (Misery, Dead Zone, Needful Things) as I'd love to see those in the theater.

Thanks for the heads up on snooker, will tune in for sure smile

    Now THAT'S a pub!

Even ol' Jesus liked a drink now and then (water to wine!), so it's even on-topic.

And speaking of beer, has anyone seen the pics of the massive sand storm in Australia -- looming over the horizon like the foamy top of a gigantic beer?

I'm always amazed by hyperrealistic art, but I'm not sure I like it. It is unbelievable though how some one can create such a thing.

My daughter likes to draw and sometimes watches time lapse clips on YouTube. When we watch those I always think it is finished halfway and I keep thinking how do you know when a drawing is finished?? So I keep special attention near the end to see the changes they make and what they add and what difference it makes.

For instance this one of Johnny Depp: http://youtu.be/gmPrXKvxmj0
I think it's extremely interesting to see what is done after 2:42.
    The highlights with the eraser.
Also after 4:45 he has made a small change to the mouth and a little smile appears, the difference is huge!

Or one of the eye... http://youtu.be/dT5bm6JBxcI
  6. Photorealism in art is something I greatly admire. I like to see how good an artist can replicate the photograph.

I do like things like abstract and impressionism as well, but these are something I enjoy in a different way: I suppose it's an appreciation of what the artist is thinking and his interpretation of the world around them.

But with photorealism in art I just go shocked , "that's good!"

    Exactly the right description, Thor.
Without taking anything away from the incredible craftsmanship (I wish I could draw one percent as well. sad It's one of the things I *really* cannot do that I found lacking in my life), photorealistic drawings will never move me.
    Art will.
'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn
  7. Each to their own I suppose.

If the subject matter is moving then photorealism will move me because it accurately conveys the scene depicted.

Art in the sense that you are talking about, has the opportunity to move both in the subject matter as well as the way in which that subject is conveyed by the artist.
