    That's a nice haul.

After you're comments on the NP thread I'll be getting the Morricone.

I'd be interested to know if the Karas album has much more going for it than that iconic theme?

The Schifrin score is a hell of a tough listen.

    New reviewcopies!

    - Paul Englishby - Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
    - Randy Edelman - 27 Dresses
    - Atli Orvarsson - Vantage Point
    - Paul Cantelon - The Other Boleyn Girl

    Hmm, I got the same!

27 Dresses, I'm not kidding, is the first film score album I've listened to in years where after it finished I walked around whistling the main theme for hours. I never would have thought it would be Randy Edelman who produced that reaction, which used to happen a lot a decade ago but never happens any more.

Interesting. Is it fluffy and happily-happy-ho or just uplifting and melodic?
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

It's standard romantic comedy stuff, very predictable, but quite pleasant. I don't mind that sort of thing, but it's been heard a lot of times before from Edelman, Silvestri, D Newman, Portman etc.

The Karas album does have more than the iconic theme. It has all the fade-ins, fade-outs, music edits, and practically all of the film dialogue too. Fortunately it's a classic film, but I'm going to have to get the Silva re-recording. I should have known this would be an imperfect release - the same label released a compilation of Shostakovich cues under the label of 'Meisel's POTEMKIN score' a while back too!

That Harry Lime theme gets on the brain though.

Perhaps I can send you a copy of the Morricone score for your enjoyment?

Just won a used copy of Kitaro's Heaven and Earth on eBay for $5. From what I've heard of it, it seems quite the steal.

Figgis on Figgis by composer-director Mike Figgis.

Interestingly, he was on a Radio 4 programme last week with Hugh Hudson and Alan Parker talking about David Lean.

Thanks to the Disney Movie Rewards program, I was able to get:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - Harry Gregson-Williams

Don't get me wrong, I liked the score but wouldn't actually pay for it. And I got a shipping confirmation earlier today. Woo hoo!

Just got from DreamTheater here at the board:

    * MYTHODEA (Vangelis)

I took a wild shot on this, expecting something a la 1492. There was some of that, but the whole opera soprano thing took me by surprise. I'll have to listen to it a few times to properly assess what I feel. Thanks for the swift delivery, DreamTheater (or Tommy_Boy or whoever sent it out)!

I think MYTHODEA is a great work, give it more listens Thor smile

p.s. Mike Olfield's Music Of The Spheres is released next week, it's his first "classical" work and has been orchestrated by Karl Jenkins, from the clips I've heard it sounds FANTASTIC!

It's a U.S.-exclusive rewards program. You buy one of their DVDs that have a Disney Movie Rewards code in it (or purchase the code(s) on eBay which is admittedly more cheaper than buying the DVDs), you enter it on their web site and accumulate points with each code you enter. When you get enough points, you go to their online store and redeem the points for the item you want.

They also have The Incredibles soundtrack available for 700 points at their DMR site, but it's packaged with the Princess Diaries 2 and Ice Princess soundtracks too. angry

What would be really funny would be if Part named his son Arvo, so then he would be Arvo Part II.
  2. I think the title 'Son of Arvo Part' would be a better title for the sequel.
