There are 3-4 cues on the limited The Goonies selection that make me hope for the "Intrada treatment" for this score. I hadn't heard any of this score before but I was aware of the frequent requests from people for a release when "most requested" lists were posted.

Trust me, if you grewed up in the '80 everyone instantly loved The Goonies (both movie and score). Its got that undeniable '80 charm, wit and mischief and I loved every part of it. If you loved a couple of cues from it, you'll love the material that isn't even on it. Like the ending when the ship drifts away. Its shuttering there isn't any re release from it. I'm hoping for Varèse or Intrada to pick it up smile

Jordi, you are suffering from "Hornerriptitis".
The symptoms include shock, dismay, discust, grief and finally anger.
You will get over it. You will learn to enjoy Horner scores again, albiet on a different level to before.
So don't do anything rash like destroy your Horner collection! Or give them away.
Just accept Horner's flaws along with his amazing giftings. And move on.

    NP ALIEN - Goldsmith

At last I recieved it today in the mail! It came with free bonus CD The Creature Was'nt Nice. Which was a nice surprise!

Alien is a classic Goldsmith masterpiece! A brilliant release with great liner notes etc!

    I'm in heaven!
  3. Waiting for me back at work:

Born On The Fourth of July - John Williams
    High Noon - Dimitri Tiomkin
Klute / All The President's Men - Michael Small / David Shire

Looking forward to hearing them all. SAE's production for High Noon is excellent and the booklet is very informative.

First time hearing the CD. I did like a clip someone used in a recent clip game.

Excellent score. Have you seen the film? If not then I highly recommend it, particularly for the enjoyment and appreciation of the score.

'The Shooting of Wilson', although what may seem like an odd choice to some, is one of my favourite Williams cues just because it scares the SHIT out the listener... again, particularly in the movie.

    Dudley Moore's Bedazzled.
    Herbie Hancock's Death Wish.
    James Horner's Glory.

Of the three, Bedazzled is the best. A jazz-orientated score from one of Britain's top funnymen. If he hadn't gone down the road he did, he could have been a concert pianist: that's how good he was.
  6. The Philadelphia Experiment / Mother Lode - Ken Wannaberg
    Images - John Williams
Jerry Goldsmith - The Early Years, Vol. 1 - Jerry Goldsmith

I'll be listening to these later this evening and I'm intrigued most by the Images CD. Interesting to read that Williams plays keyboards on this score and Stomu Yamash'ta plays "sounds"/percussion. The interesting liner notes mention that Yamash'ta "played" several "sound sculptures" (metal-and-glass instruments) that were hired from Francois and Bernard Baschet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baschet_Brothers). Strings were played by members of the BBC Symphony.

Dudley Moore was a very talented composer and a brilliant pianist, I believe he once said he fell into comedy by accident, he'd always wanted to be taken seriously as a musician.
