    Agree, one of the most underrated scores by Zimmer, along with Pearl Harbor.

  17. The first two packages of CDs for the year came...

    Azur et Asmar (Yared) - YUCK! Risk of buying things in foreign languages... there was probably some indication that this score was absolutely covered head-to-toe with dialogue.
    L'Enfer (Tanovic et al)
    Persepolis (Bernet)
    De Fortabte Sjaeles (Cornish) - nice to have a CD of it finally
    War and Peace (Kaczmarek)
    The Story of the Great King and Four Gods (Hisiashi)
    Journey from the Fall (Wong)
    The Last Winter (Grace/Sanko)
    3:10 to Yuma (Beltrami) - this score deserved a CD case, I guess the digipak will have to do!
    Jazz meets the Symphony 6 (Schifrin, Sydney Symphony) - I missed this live performance from a few back, and I don't have any of the previous five albums, but I'm looking forward to some Schifrin

    2) Charlotte's Web (Danny Elfman)

    Can't say I'm too excited. slant But, I'll try to listen to them tonight while I fold towels.

    1)Caveman's Valentine (Blanchard)-not too excited about, but it was only .95 cents
    2) Arthur and the Invisibles (Serra)-I have high hopes for this one
    3) Farewell My Concubine-Silva Comp
    4) Endurance (Powell)
    5) The Mighty (Jones)
    6) How to Make An American Quilt (T-Newman)
    7) Don Quixote (Hartley)
    8) Best Laid Plans (Armstrong)-Not expecting much
    9) Field of Dreams (Horner)
    10) Don Juan DeMarco (Kamen)
    11) Muppet Treasure Island (Zimmer)
    12) Blade (Isham)-not too excited about, but it was .95 cents as well

    The embarrassing part was I had to get a basket to hold all the CDs because I bought so many. Most were only $1-3 for some reason. The Silva compilation is amazing so far. I can't believe what I'm hearing. shocked I'm also glad I finally found Muppet Treasure Island. My Zimmer collection is almost complete now. I pretty much just need Regarding Henry, Paper House, the Holiday, Thunderbirds, and Batman Begins.

    I have a lot of towel folding to do.

    'Moth Ballet', 'Rom and Lulu Drive' and 'Musical Rampage' make that score an overlooked gem. 'Moth Ballet' in particular is gripping composition for film.

    Those are excellent deals and some fine scores you have there! Agree with what Franz says about the Blanchard. The Serra cues were a great listen in small doses but didn't work for me as a full cd listening experience. I just bought the Silva compilation thanks to you (it was just $2 on Amazon). Endurance has some nice guitar cues. The Newman title theme is simply gorgeous (or as a friend put it-- like two oboes making love to each other)

    I'm not sure, to be honest, since the dialogue gets in the way of concentrating on the music. What makes it sad is that there were two releases, and I thought I'd bought a dialogue-free one.

    Eidel is a French composer that specialises in world music. He writes scores and works with world artists. On The Mahabharata he's worked with Japanese percussionist Tsuchitori, creating authentic Indian music that should interest you. I think in terms of authenticy he's a bit like Bruno Coulais. I'm fascinated by his score to Bunker Palace Hôtel. It's a science fiction thriller for which he took a Balkan approach and collaborated with Arnaud Devos.
