British composer Mark Thomas (Shadows in the Sun and Back in Business) has penned a wonderful orchestral score for this animated film version of the well-known British children's story, perhaps best known in the form of a popular 1960s TV series.
This new film version features the voices of Stephen Fry, Ardal O'Hanlan, Jim Broadbent and Steve Coogan – and an original score that relies on rich themes and infectious melodies in a way typical of its composer.
Following the adventures of Hammy Hamster, Roderick Rat and GP the Guinea Pig, Thomas' score is also filled with excitement, suspense, action, entertaining scherzos and big emotions - just as it should be in a big, epic story about three heroes who embark on a journey in search of their lost homes after a violent storm!

I enjoyed one cue, but the action music was just bad to me, and the rest of the score was so boring I forgot I was listening to it while doing some website working. I finally clicked "stop" and made things better. The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

Wow, that is serious comments coming from someone who really knows how to write music that is not bad and boring! And just out of curiosity, where did you buy the album?

Come on folks! It's not nice to keep picking on Justin's music for everything. Give it a rest. There's a separate topic for that.
Besides it's not a pre-requisite to know how to write music in order to express an opinion about a score. You don't have to be a film-maker to comment on whether you liked a film or not, and why. -
