    Acapulco

Check out some of the album covers, I think they're gorgeous.

D, I think you might be particularly taken with the one that appears around the 48 second mark wink

It says "The video you have requested is not available.

If you have recently uploaded this video, you may need to wait a few minutes for the video to process."

  1. Nice review, Tom. As soon as I saw this release I was curious as to what you would make of it. But, reading your review it's not as "way out" as the title and artwork would suggest the music would be!

I don't think many here are familiar with Baxter, Tom, I'm certainly not, I only have two scores by him but I have seen a lot of films he's scored.

  2. I wasn't aware of this composer, that wasn't until Intrada and La-La Land began releasing his material like crazy. And up until now I have heard not one of his scores shame

It really surprises me. Then again the average person on the street has no clue who John Williams is.

You reckon Tom??? I'm pretty sure that a healthy majority would know who John Williams is.

Oh yes I believe it Timmer because I did a very informal poll when I was working part time at a convenience store. These people were typical middle class America. I wished I had recorded it because there were well over 200 responses to my question "name a film composer." I got answers ranging from Beethoven, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Woody Allen, stare eyes, and Leopold Stokowski. There were less than 10 people who could name even one. To the best of memory John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Henry Mancini, and Victor Young were mentioned. I think you'd have better luck playing name that tune with Star Wars or Rocky.

Yeah, many people will recognise the tunes but not be able to name the artist, I can only speak for myself here in the UK but I don't know anbody who couldn't name John Williams as a film composer, John Barry, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini and Danny Elfman are also names that many are familiar with.
