I'm happy to say I've never seen the show ever and I've not yet hooked up my tv to the cable yet. Have no desire to watch television.

    This is a good one.

  1. I didn't give this Baxter title another thought after I'd listened to the clips. It didn't appeal to me from the outset but I'll revisit the samples - though I may have to delay any purchase with there being too many titles being bought recently.

You do have to be a fan of Baxter to appreciate his talent. He is in the same class as Roy Webb.

  2. I've given Les Baxter a bit of a try - The Beast Within, The Dunwich Horror, Goliath and The Barbarians & Black Sunday - and they are all worth a listen. But of these, I enjoy Black Sunday far more than all the others.

  4. NP: Master of The World - Les Baxter

    On Tom's recommendation.

He certainly can write flying music.

I don't like his horror/dissonant stuff, but do find myself fancying his exotica material.
    I am extremely serious.

    another release of Baxter

I'm looking forward to hearing this Tom. I have a copy of a digital release that has 30-35 minutes of music spread over 7 separate suites. I spent a bit of time dividing these suites up into more manageable lengths and I'm interested to hear the better sound quality and the original cues.

I too own that release and will keep it because of Baron of Blood. I also have the original Nicolosi soundtrack.

The Man With The X Ray Eyes is the latest Baxter release from La-La Land. On its heels is a new Kritzerland one Marco Polo. I've just listened to X for the first time away from the film so I'm digesting what I hear.

  8. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the score to The Man With The X-Ray Eyes, Tom. I have no recollection of the music as I have only seen the film once I think. Many years ago when I was a child. But it must have made some sort of impression as I can still see in my mind's eye Ray Milland's coal black eyes.

I believe the film doesn't get many plays on TV here in the UK.

Look for another release from Les very soon, this one Marco Polo from Kritzerland. I'm thinking about putting together something for Erik and his show. Could prove interesting.

  9. Good idea. Tom. Baxter's music is varied. And his (virtual) output is significant.
