    Many here won't realise that Kate's dad was comedy legend Richard Beckinsale ( Rising Damp, Porridge ) who died tragically young at about 32 yrs old when Kate was only 5.

    I see that Richard's one-time sparring partner Leonard Rossiter's most famous role is being remade, starting tonight on BBC-1. I might watch it - but then again, I might not. I didn't get where I am today by watching remakes of things which shouldn't be remade.

    I didn't watch it. I can't think of a single reason why this series should have been remade.

    I did watch it. Moderately diverting. At least it was written by David Nobbs and wasn't just the same as the original, with different actors saying the lines.
