On the whole I have much time for Elfman's fantasy and his use of choirs makes me want to heave all the furniture out of the way that I may enjoy the best fantasy music ever written unhindered by objects so that I might get the full benefit of the magnificent choral music.

  1. Well you should be familiar, of course.
After all, that was music from Mr. Elfman's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Yep; I loved the way the concept art and character portraits looked, but I'm also a bit disappointed with how the CGI looks. Especially Helena; the make-up alone was brilliant already, why enhance that like this? :?

If you take a look at today's blog post at Film Score Monthly, you'll see that I've written what I think is the most comprehensive list of Oingo Boingo songs in movies that has been assembled thus far (based on a multitude of different sources):

    http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/daily/a … leID/6311/

Perhaps this would be of interest to some of you.

(P.S. It's a curious coincidence that my blog entry was posted just today, at the day of John Hughes' death, since many of the films he was involved in are listed there....)

What a beautiful score, thanks for sharing! Of course, I will be buying this on CD as soon as it arrives too.

It certainly has vibes of DEAD PRESIDENTS and THE KINGDOM, but listen to that Jewish flute thing in the first track. Certainly an original choice!

    WOLFMAN

    New assignment for the composer.

    trailer"

    http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/thewolfman/

    plot:
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Lawrence Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate. As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself…one he never imagined existed.

Yes, that one has also been in the making for a long time, with a troubled shoot, allegedly.

It seems like something right up Danny's alley, though, so I'm looking forward to it. Another SLEEPY HOLLOW, perhaps?
