  1. Superb news. I knew that the four movies he worked on last year was only a precursor to something bigger this year. Now it's official.

I'm quite looking forward to this one. With the film set in India, I'm sure Newman had a right field day!

Why almost all Thomas Newman's albums has songs mixed up with scores cues? It's annoying since I don't care about songs.

I'm sure this occurs just as frequently with most other composers?

Well, in my opinion, that depends on how good the songs are and how well they compliment the album. I've got nothing against songs or where they appear as long as they're good.

No it doesn't so frequently as in Thomas Newmans albums. There are no songs or the songs are at the end of the CD not in the middle. They are such a mood breaking if they are in the middle.

I understand if you like songs but I only like scores and classical music, songs doesn't do anything for me.

I think Newman thinks really hard about the albums. It's not just the songs, but little sound effects or bits of dialogue he sometimes puts in one or two places. They're never in film order either.

I don't like it when he blends in the end of a score cue with the start of a song (or vice versa), as he sometimes does - can't programme out the songs then!
  4. Some Thomas Newman reviews for you to consider:

    - The Debt
    - Desperately Seeking Susan
    - The Linguini Incident
    - The Player
    - Scent of a Woman

More to come in the future

Whoops! Don't know how that happened.
  6. Sounds like Newman's found the perfect score to let loose all his genius with percussion. I can't wait to hear the whole thing.
  7. We continue the update with another batch of reviews:

    - Flesh and Bone
    - Josh and S.A.M.
    - Little Women

    Re: SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

No 'Brooks Was Here' as an EXCELLENT TRACK? uhm

I don't really care too much about the Oscar winners, FORREST GUMP could have won twice as many as it did and would still be nowhere near the excellence of this film.
