    Online collaboration, storage and communication.
It's the wave of the future. smile

A logical development, but good to see it approached in a structured manner rather than organically "growing" (which would have happened -and IS happening- anyway).

I think he means something can be salvaged from his eternal shame of missing your post by taking solace in the fact that he was smart enough not to start a new thread, at the same time not accusing you of such treachery.

    Or something like that.

Doesn't look THAT much different today, all things considered?

True, but it's funny. It says "25 million pages (soon to be much bigger)", and now it has indexed billions of pages, documents, ... and runs millions of computers world wide. It's mind boggling to me at how quick the algorithm works and how we have become so dependent on it. spin

I'm on the preview version since thi morning. Geeky as we are, we tried it out at work.

Fun! But I don't see the whole picture yet. What is very impressive, is the response times (for people who use Google Docs with several people together, knows that it can sometimes drag) when multiple users are aking part in a conversation. One can add videos, links, images, ... very very easily.

Basically, it's an inbox of threads (like a forum) with several comments and discussions (and links, videos, ...) and its participants. Very interesting to see where this will go.

Also impressive is the technical background. Built with HTML5 (the current version is HTML4 and its subset XHTML, the latter this site uses), which is the future for the web, enabling much more advanced applications. It speaks for itself that this is not yet supported by IE. So Google Wave, as the first big HTML5 application, only works in about every other browser (unless you install Google Chrome plugin for IE). It shows how IE really lacks any kind of support for future technologies, but prefers to push its propietary Silverlight technology. Very sad.

But kudos to Google for pushing open standards again, and innovating the world of the web! punk

And a cool use of Wave, Pulp Fiction Wave:

Yes, you have to be invited, since it's still in preview (not even Beta yet!). I seem not to find a way to invite people (since I was invited by someone else at work). So, I'm sorry.

When I can, I will let you know.
