Share the sentiment Alan. The last two movies and scores did absolutely nothing to me. Snooze

The films? rolleyes <--shrug The scores? Both have their moments, QOS in particular I really liked.

  1. Hey, I'm just saying. Bond finally got serious enough for me. It's funny that to do that, it had to alienate much of its base. I wouldn't mind a real M in there though. Enough with Judi Dench. Get Jeremy Irons in there.

Bind didn't get serious, they deprived him of his glam, good looks and utter charm over a Putin like cold killer. Cynical you can say, not serious.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I much prefer the Putin like cold killer. But then I'm not a Bond fan.

CASINO ROYALE is a fine movie. My favourite of the series, actually.

    I agree!

In our Bond assessment, we see eye to eye, franz. I prefer my action serious, and don't really connect to the old cheeseball films at all.
    I am extremely serious.

Has he been confirmed yet? There was no word about him during the press release and I believe he's mentioned himself that he hasn't been confirmed.

  3. I thought that I had read on Twitter that it had been confirmed but I could be wrong.

    SKYFALL?

This doesn't bode well does it? Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Arnold immediately announced with previous Bond film press releases?

It bodes well if it goes to John Powell. (But he's too busy whoring himself out to animated films - his words I believe.)

John Powell would be a great choice! I also think an interesting 'outsider' choice would be Howard Shore, very very unlikely though.

I believe negotiations are ongoing with a composer who is not David Arnold.

So what you're saying is John Powell is confirmed? I'll put this on IMDb immediately!
  4. On FilmTracks Jon Broxton said that there are rumors persistent in Hollywood that MGM does NOT want to break the relationship Mendes has with Thomas Newman.

This actually led a guy on my Polish forum to boycott the movie if that is so. I kid you not.

  5. Not to fan the flames or anything, but what I like about CASINO ROYALE is that it just told a story, and folded all the usual accessories into the telling of that story. Most Bond films are like a parade of inflatable floats -- 'oh here comes the bit when this usually happens in a Bond film', 'oh, oh, here's comes the bit when THIS happens in a Bond film', etc. We always tell the Americans to smarten up their blockbuster drivel, perhaps there's something to be said for that crossing the Atlantic.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE was veering back towards the parade of inflatable floats, with unwatchable action scenes thrown in.

I loved Casino Royale and was disappointed that its follow-up wasn't better. But I love the Connery films, too, particularly the first three.

My favourite Bond film is ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, superlative score, great action sequences, great story, charismatic and memorable villain and an underrated Bond actor.

Worst is LICENCE TO KILL closely followed by OCTOPUSSY and DIE ANOTHER DAY.
