John, you have the coolest job.

Quite liked the snippet of the Adele song. It certainly sounds like an Adele song (no bad thing in my opinion).

The more I hear it, the more I think "You Know My Name" from Casino Royale is my favourite post-Barry Bond song. That and the unused Shirley Bassey one from Quantum of Solace.

    Adele has finally been confirmed.

But the best thing about this article:

    - Recorded with a 77 piece orchestra
    - Arranged by JAC Radford

You can also hear some of the song here.

Having J.A.C. Redford involved is a good sign, since he's been doing a lot of work with Thomas Newman. I didn't hear any thing resembling a theme though, but it's only a small clip.

I can't stop listening to it. Looking forward to hear it in full on James Bond day.

Love when the horns enter. Perfect.

I like it, although the orchestra drowns out the singing at points.

Agreed, although this is still a massive improvement over Another Way To Die.

I think this Adele song is pretty good actually, although the lyrics don't mean much.

    No Good About Goodbye

Arnold wrote it after the film but retained the theme.

"I started on ideas for the song during QOS, hence the string line that opens the song, only a couple of lines, once Jack and Alicia came on board, we didn't do anything else. When asked to produce Shirley Basseys album, myself and Don finished it for her."

there are a couple of songs that I like so much more than this, but I love it big time nonetheless because it shows us what a Bond song needs to be like, not like the dribble of Madonna or Alicia Keys of previous Bond movies

By the way John you rock, what a fantastic cool job you have punk

It's not a nice song. The more you hear it, the more the initial excitement goes away and showcases the simplistic nature of its core.

Well, it's a nice song, but I agree it's not holding well after repeated listens.

  4. I find it has gotten stuck in my head actually. The arrangement -- minus that chorus -- is quite nice.

Yes, an instrumental version would be quite nice. Incidentally, I have the sheet music for it and will attempt to learn it tomorrow.

The tracklist is now available here.

As much as I've seen of everything else to do with Skyfall I'd like to leave this unknown until I've seen the film hence why I am hoping people will use the link instead of pasting the tracklist here! smile

I believe the lyrics will symbolize quite a bit in the context of the film. Looking forward to hearing the song in its proper place!

Adele's Bond song is the best I've heard in a long time.

Apparently Arnold version of the Bond theme from Casino Royale (The Name's Bond... James Bond) is tracked into several places in Skyfall. vomit

As in they use music from previous films and simply edit it into the new film.

I wonder why Newman didn't (or perhaps did) do a version of the Bond theme.

Are you sure it was done through tracking, or could it be Newman simply rerecorded the Casino Royale one in the same fashion for coherence? Of course, if they tracked it, it would explain why it's not featured on the soundtrack album... I already hated it when that happened to Harry Potter and the tracking of Williams' music. It feels so... cheap.

Those are the exact words I used in another post. It feels cheap even when it's tracked in the same movie.

Re-recording music is a lesser offence (e.g. using parts of Flight From Peru in Indy IV) but obviously new music is preferred.
