    Hi Everybody,

As we all know that score plays vital role in movies. Without it most of the movies would have been incomplete. In that case, i have noticed several times in my life that the collaboration of Director and Composer is always very very important. The chemistry between director and composer should always work properly. In that case, the following are the director-composer collaboration that i admire most.

    1. Steven Spielberg - John Williams - Simply the best
    2. Robert Zemeckis - Alan Silvestri
    3. Chris Columbus - John Williams
    4. James Cameron - James Horner
    5. Mel Gibson - James Horner
    6. William Wyler - Milkos Rozsa
    7. Stephen Sommers - Alan Silvestri

Do you guys have any other best director - composer collaboration list in your mind?

    Have a nice day! smile

Schaffner - Goldsmith <-- Iconic collaboration that produced some of the finest scores on the planet.

Dante - Goldsmith <-- Dante let Goldsmith spread his wings and write some of the most entertaining score of his career!

Hisaishi - Miyazaki <-- Can't say I like the movies but they inspired Hisaishi to write some of the best score for animation.

Brannagh - Doyle <-- IMHO, Doyle best score is still his first. Henry V is up there with Citizen Kane as the best debut film score of all time.

Bruckheimer - Zimmer <-- While it's not a director/composer collaboration it still is one of the most talked about collaboration in Hollywood history. You pretty much know exact what you are going to get when these two giants get together.

    And of course there is...

HITCHCOCK and HERRMANN <-- 'nuff said!

  1. Ridley Scott - Hans Zimmer
    Oliver Stone - John Williams
Bryan Forbes - John Barry (King Rat anyone?)
Ron Howard - James Horner (Apollo 13, guys!, Willow!)

It would be a brave man to suggest anything other than Herrmann/Hitchcock or Spielberg/Williams as the finest, but when you think of the scores in the Schaffner/Goldsmith collaboration, well, they're pretty impressive to say the least: OK, so The Stripper is not an especially auspicious start (though it's decent), but then you've got Planet of the Apes, Patton, Papillon, Islands in the Stream, The Boys from Brazil and Lionheart. WOW!
