Sorry to dredge up a Sunil thread from the depths of hell, but for some reason while trying to add a rather large post in the recent reading thread, I keep getting this:

I had this message several times, when I took too much time to write a comment (long or not).
So I copied the comment, open another window of the same thread, paste the message, and push the button again.

Is time limited to write (from open a page to push the button) a comment?

It was a particularly long post, so perhaps that was the case? Though I tried doing exactly what you did and the same thing happened; lack of 'privileges'. (I use Chrome.)

Oh well. Perhaps the forum just doesn't want to hear about String Theory and cosmology... sad

    I think it's a Chrome issue.

Incidentally, I recently ordered a Dell laptop. So there.

No, but I might try clubbing Martijn over the head with my Mac. That might help.

Oh you fashion victim! PCs are SO much better for that!

Interestingly I'm getting odd SQL errors every time I come to the home page now...
It doesn't seem to impede functionality, but it certainly suggests there's something not entirely right with the site at current.

    Bregt! Hurry home!

Lots of problems, especially with flash websites, frequent crashes etc. If you've been using it heavily during the last 6 months you'd know. It's still not very stable. Firefox beats them all as we speak, but it's getting slower and slower, heavier with each new release. I'd say that Internet Explorer 8 is a very strong opponent too.

Since the flash websites aren't a problem using this computer with Chrome I think it is ok. The speed with it has liked tripled.
My new laptop which I can't use in my apartment is setup for use with IE8 and seems to perform ok.

  3. i have these weird "programming" lines on top of the site, but only on the frontpage

it seems the site has waited until Bregt was in Portugal to finally explode

The site seems to be slowing down considerably... anyone else noticing this?
If not, it's likely my connection.
If yes, it's quite possible the database server is about to keel over, which means likely the site, possibly only the forum will go down until Bregt will have a chance to contact the hosting company upon his return.

Now don't panic just yet...I'm sure all will be well...
