    It does seem like this thread went way off into spacetime. I can tell you that I went through a horrific fire in 2003 and it was awful. I sincerely hope that all is well for Stav and family.

    Dear friends,
    I'm writing a few words to you in great haste. First of all thank you for your kind words and wishes.
    Hopefully things are going better. And this because there is nothing left for the fire to burn. The firefighters and pilots here are trully heroes but the leadership sucked exactly as it did 2 years ago. By brother's house is safe and we can now relax a bit. Thankfully my parental house was far away from the scene of the destruction so I didn't have to worry about it also.
    These are some pictures to see how things were. Perhaps some of you have already seen them.
    I hope that I will be able to return to the forum reguraly in a few days.

    Those fires are a tremendous problem in Greece, every summer. But like every fish whose head is rotten, the whole bunch of idiots who rule us stinks; the same way some people's heads are full of shit, namely the ones who are hired to protect and patrol the forests from fires but decide to sit in small village's cafes all day instead of doing their job to PREVENT. They rather run after the non-catchable firey monster each year, AFTER it has already grown into huge proportions. Sigh. The notion and attitude of the average Greek dude is part of what's rotting this country from the inside.

    I am glad Stavi and her family are safe. Relieved, i should rather say.

    If you've got the clout to do it then times like this (depressed equity markets) are the perfect opportunities for large corporations to pursue acquisitions.

    On a negative note the fire in Los Angeles has now doubled in size, not good. Remember that October is still 30 days off and is the dangerous month.

    Tim what happens in October are the Santa Ana winds. Instead of blowing west to east from the ocean the winds turn around and blow from east to west from the desert making dry vegetation even dryer.
