Just thought I'd open this thread.

I'm hoping her next projects will be of high-caliber like her masterpiece Arsene Lupin, and not mediocre stuff like Flood (the only worthy cue in that is the magnificent main titles cue).

Any news about any future soundtrack releases or future projects? She's a promising composer who just needs the right movie to get the recognition she deserves.

One of my first film score "finds" when I first started listening to scores was her Tom's Midnight Garden, and it's still one of my faves.

Well, magnificent is nice... I mean, sure it's a nice cue and the theme is pretty but not that good and somewhat stifled by the poor recording. No Flood is really my biggest disappontment so far this year and i hope this is only a faux-pas.
  1. Been off "Amusement"; I had suspected as much for a couple months.

    DEBBIE WISEMAN: DIFFERENT VOICES

"“How about composing a new Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra?” suggested Ian Maclay, the General Manager of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve always loved composing for full symphony orchestra, so this was a challenge that simply had to be met! I conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the first live performance at London’s Cadogan Hall with Hayley Westenra adding her special touch to the song and Stephen Fry narrating in his own inimitable fashion. The result of that live performance is this CD. It was a truly memorable and exciting experience, and I hope you enjoy listening to Different Voices as much as I enjoyed composing the piece.’ – Debbie Wiseman

Not my cuppa but I'd hope it get's children interested in orchestral music, much like Britten's Young Person's Guide or Prokofiev's Peter And The Wolf.

  4. I've really liked a few of her CDs, but can't seem to find many more sadly. This latest one is probably not one I'll spring for. Her lesbian vampire killers (or whatever the title is) is not one I'm holding out hope for, but who knows? I love Wilde, Haunted, Arsene Lupin. I would really like to get Tom's Midnight Garden, but can't seem to find it.

Speaking of the rejection of Wiseman's score for Amusement, the DVD and Blu-ray covers credits her as composer. So either it's a mislabeling or they retained most of Wiseman's score for the final film (and kept sections of Beltrami's replacement score).

Perhaps. I'll make do with Darla from Angel for now. lick (We're watching all 5 seasons of Angel again in our flat whenever we have dinner, we're about half way through season 2 at the moment. What a brilliant show! Better than Heroes by MILES.)

Buffy's a brilliant show, but I don't much care for the whiny character that she is. Gimme the Batmanesque character of Angel any day!

She is whiny but she's great when she goes all kickarse on vampire butt.

From a film that seems even sillier then Shaun of the Dead, I had about no expectations nor interest in the score at all. These clips, however, are a complete surprise shocked

A clue is in the fact that one of the posters says "Have you heard the CD, James?" - a process of elimination can lead you to discover which of Alan or James this was. wink

David Boreanaz doesn't quite have the chiseled good looks of Christian Bale -- he's a bit too goofy in Angel (particularly in the first season), but when he goes into evil mode -- it's quite entertaining.

But Sarah Michelle Gellar handily beats Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the looks department, so it comes to a draw. biggrin
