Racing Stripes is very, VERY good and Black Dahlia is a pure gem. I completely agree.

  1. Looking forward to hearing Isham's score for The Mechanic:

  2. Oh, it would be hard to beat the other MECHANIC score, one of Jerry Fielding's most striking scores.

Why do they even let the douche act? I am looking forward to the score though!

Who, exactly, are you talking about? Jason Stratham?
    I am extremely serious.

Yes. Jason Statham replaces Bronson (?).

Hummm? In the original, Charles Bronson was the old hitman teaching the 'new kid on the block' Jan Michael Vincent. I can't see Statham in quite the same role?

  4. Well, that's how they make it. I should watch the original, though I must say, I was never quite a huge fan of Bronson? Except Magnificient Seven and Great Escape of course.

It's a pretty good film with a good 'pay off' at the end.

I like him, personally, when he's cast in the right roles. Usually tough guy action roles.

He doesn't really mean anything to me, best I can say is that it doesn't bother me if he's in a film and the majority of his films I haven't seen anyway.

Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels is brilliant but that's an ensemble cast.

So, Alan, the big question... which version of The Mechanic should I get?
  6. I prefer The Assassin's Edition: the one with the long suites. They have their uninteresting parts that you could avoid with the short tracks but as listening experiences the suites are which I enjoy more.

I found the mechanic dissapointing...anyway, here's a new interview with the composer.

Well, no, no big problem with it and i didn't expect anything for such a movie; but it's more of the same synth pads and some americana western-like guitars on overdrive ontop. It's Isham, i long for the days of Black Dahlia smile

  8. Cheers, Demetris. Interested to hear your comments. Doesn't sound so bad when it is said to be average rather than disappointing somehow.

I try and not hold his disturbing personal convictions against his art.
(As I do with the likes of John Travolta, or, say, John Wayne, or indeed Wagner.
Tom Cruise not so much, though)
'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn
  10. Travolta got out of it recently, something to do with his family, as I recall.

Cruise is still jumping up & down on couches, though...

  11. EDIT; he was thinking about getting out, and still is.

But after listening to the harrowing experience of someone who did, on Coast to Coast AM radio show the passed three hours, Travolta has a hell of a fight ahead of him.
