No, it's just that scene in question that HINTS at it.

The first film I ever remember seeing at the cinema was ONE MILLION YEARS B.C., I must have been 6 or 7 years old and, of course, I was thrilled by the spectacle of dinosaurs but one scene in the film gave me nightmares and even on a recent viewing I found the scene eerily creepy, it's when the cast out lovers Tumak and Loana hide in a cave inhabited by cannibalistic monkey men. What scared me? Probably that you had two humans hiding in a cave full of primitive flesh eating savages, it's all dimly lit and you never get a clear view of the primitives faces and the whole scene is from the viewpoint of our heroes who manage to escape without having to encounter them.

All helped by Mario Nascimbene's excellent score.

Tried to find the clip on youtube but to no avail slant

Ok, Halloween (the John Carpenter one). Martijn hates it, I love it. It was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid (I was 10 yo!).

I simply couldn't fathom that he hadn't already been like twenty years ago or something.

It just made too much sense in my mind!

Thanks for mentioning REC. Just sought it out, due to the mention in this thread, and it was indeed a well made and über-scary movie.

Thank God I don't get Danish TV. Even if it isn't as scary as the first film, I wouldn't go near it with a ten-feet pole.

Sounds like there's a grudge curse on you. shocked

It's actually a good antidote to see this sequel, because it's just so crammed with scares that one becomes insensitive after a while. It doesn't take many times for that dead chick to crawl out of stuff before one starts thinking "There's she goes again, that silly moo".

  1. Well I just saw the Haunting (1963 version) to see what the fuss was all about, and now it's finished I'm still wondering what the fuss is about. This movie didn't scare me in the slightest. I get it's meant to be suggestive and all, but really the only disturbing thing in this film are the motivations of some of the characters, especially the lead character, it makes no sense. I thought it was better handled in the remake. Also the scares in that one really scared me.

I guess it's a movie I had to see when it came out (impossible, as I didn't exist), or when I was just a kid (unlikely, as I didn't like B&W back then).

Oh my, this comment will get me flamed !!!
