  1. Hey,

as some of you know I started a vlog. Bregt allowed me to give the links to it here, so I created a thread for it. All comments, recommendations are wanted.

On filmmaking. That's my most recent entry.

Very nice, Pawel. You certainly have a good knowledge about filmmaking techniques and I'm sure you'll do a great job! smile

Nice to hear the commentary, particularly about the importance of the characters in a film industry that often neglects them nowadays.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  2. I am using this form to use filmmaking. I didn't make it the way I usually want to do it (stories bookended by my audiovisual narration (ie. my face talking). This time I couldn't film the story I wanted for numerous reasons, one of them being not enough preparation but at least played around with the light.

As for the commentary. That's why I look up to the 70s so much, you know? Characters AND the craft. Most recent movie where I saw this done very well was, I think, Up! And it's weird to say that artistically and thematically a kiddie (Disney even!) animation is much more mature than 90% of the action crap done nowadays!

    What about Public Enemies?
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. Oh yes, that too. In that way, it's one of Mann's best movies recently (his best since Heat maybe? Collateral was great though)

That is probably because Pixar films have less studio interference when compared to all other studios in Hollywood. I listened to a Disney producer named Don Hahn give a presentation, and in it he said that Pixar is allowed to do what it wants.
  4. That's interesting. I wish John Woo was allowed this freedom in Hollywood. I can't imagine what Broken Arrow could become.

I find it sometimes hard to understand everything. The sound is very low sometimes. try to find a better microphone or so, I don't know. Or it's perhaps just me. dizzy

I have some slight problems understanding too, I'm afraid. Some of it may have to do with your pronounciation of certain words, Pawel, but I think a lot could be remedied with a better mike. Still, I think I get the "gist" of it for the most part. smile
    I am extremely serious.
  8. Anyway, this vlog isn't really going the way I want it to be. That is because I still don't know my assets (not my plans, my ideas, but what I have equipment-wise and really, how to use it). I think I will make experiments before really going into the realm I want to go in.

  9. Yeah, my plan is to learn directing with it, not create an internet persona, really.

    Not gonna happen.
If I ever am gonna try my hand at any kind of informative site, it's gonna be an extremely opinionated one filled with sound and fury...er...I mean history, politics, pet peeves and pop culture.
And maybe some films and music thrown in for good measure.

What's wrong with that FOR A CHANGE? Alll other sites on the subject are similar anyway.

Well, I find that the best sites stick to one subject.
Spreading the net too widely is confusing, cluttering and at the end, not evry interesting (as it would be more like a personal blog, a style and form I only find palatable in very few cases!)
