I was thinking that too. I noticed especially because I listened to Einaudi quite a bit lately, for the first time! So when I first heard Einaudi, then some weeks later W.E., I heard similarties too. And the Tiersen tracks too.
    wink

I agree. However, I think the review was for the whole album, in which the 5 stars score got tainted by the 2 stars pop song.

I haven't heard it but I'm sure Madonna's track is a 'Masterpiece' wink

    sorry shame
On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt
  1. The score has more for film score fans than the Madonna song, but I'm not sure it's that much more emotionally deep.

Watch Abel's video for receiving his second Public Choice Award at the WSA.

He was unable to attend due to visa issues. Clearly he was very moved by this all.

Yes, it was touching and a bit awkward all at the same time. Definitely the 'Barack Obama' moment of the day.
    I am extremely serious.

Abel arranged, conducted and produced a new album by french Kaas Chante, a tribute album to Edith Piaf. (I'm pretty unfamiliar with Piaf but I did recognize "Non, je ne regrette rien," used in Inception.)

Abel also composed a tribute instrumental to Piaf for the album. It's his usual greatness:
Song for the Little Sparrow: Full track via Spotify
  2. Very nice! Very Korzeniowski.

Wow, that's a really good piece! Has the dreamy and heartfelt emotion of some of the pieces in W.E., but it's bigger in scope. The violin solo (I think!) on top of that is fantastic. Is the album like this? Caas is a singer right? Or what is this album about?

Yeah, the piece is quite lovely. The album is a tribute album to Edith Piaf, so it features Kaas singing her most characteristic songs with new orchestrations by Korzeniowski. I love his work here, it makes the songs gel quite well with this track and although they remain very much Piaf, you can also hear Abel's style in his new orchestrations. I have to get used to Kaas' singing though - it's good, but at key moments different from Edith in a way that I long to hear Edith's originals. She misses a certain raw edge in her voice that is at times essential.
