    Don't be silly, dear boy.
The Wizard of Oz is one of the finest bits in the history of early cinema, with absolutely magnificent direction, photography and a superb score.
The Sound Of Music is Nazi propaganda (...what? I sure as hell cheered them on: "They're going THAT way! Fire! Fire!")

    biggrin

Have you never heard the term 'a friend of Dorothy's' cheesy

It just reads funny in English. I can't remember his name but there's a German comedian ( no, honestly ) who sometimes appears on programs here who said that Germany made a remake of THE GREAT ESCAPE, 'we call it THE GREAT RECAPTURE'.

I believe had we not had the Nazis here in Germany, you Americans would have invented them. They surely were a blessing for Hollywood in more than one sense.

I give Sound of Music 8, because there's a great chemistry between the 2 leads. But yeah, it could be Wizard of Oz is the better film (I have to see it again to get a clearer picture)

I've been in Bristol for a few hours. 20 years ago I made a guided bus-tour through South-England: London, Devon, Dartmoore, Cornwall. I made that journey together with my parents who presented me with the Tour for finishing grammar school.
I believe we came from Bath. Fact is, I consue all the Cathedrals after 20 years, but I very destinctly remeber my first impressions from London (Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens was most importand to me. I thought it was in Great Ormond Street and was all confused.) I remember Bath, Stone Hendge, Salisbury, Salisbury Plain, Dartmoore, Land's End ...
I need to repeat that tour some day on my own.

I found Stonehenge most impressive! But you know, I took the sight for what it is: A fascinating historical place to visit. If you expect some extraordinary things to happen like the reception of strange energies, if you expect UFOs to come in or to channel King Arthur dizzy , well then you are bound to be disappointed.

I don't know if I get it the way Timmer meant it, but I laughed out loud!
If you read it in English, it says (translated in German again) "Stirb Trapp-Familie".
You know, as in die, die hard, die you son of a gun, etc.
