I think you combined too many elements into that suite... and some of the timings were off... especially the first edit. I liked where you were going with the more romantic side of the score but then you combined about 3-4 ideas in the span of 3 minutes at the end that didn't mesh well with the tone of the rest of the suite. I think cutting the suite down by 1-2 minutes and a better first edit would improve your suite immensely.

I hope you don't mind the constructive criticism.

Anyway, I'll upload my own version of Robin Hood which is more action oriented but is really a showcase of Kamen's great main theme.

I did not notice any off timings. Can you be a little more specific about where they are and how off they are?

My suite philosophy is to put as many of my personal highlights of a score as possible into the span of 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes that requires lots of edits in a short period of time such as the end (you can only do that with certain parts of a score, mainly action passages). In fact, i think it comes together very well, because that way it ends just like it opens, with a furious full performance of the main theme and both these elements sandwhich the romantic passages of the score.

It as if you edited it in between the beats or on last beat of the bar instead of the first beat.. I'm not sure what the pieces time signature is but if you count in 4/4... going from the Overture to the latter stages of the Prisoner of the Crusades it seems "off." The editing from one track to another is fine but I think you missed it timing wise.

The final selection is fine (The Wedding Finale)... I just find that once you move from the romantic section it gets a bit jarring... lots of stuff crammed into just few minutes. But as you said this is for your own personal use and it seems like we have different "philosophy's" on how a suite should work.

ROBIN HOOD PRINCE OF THIEVES: SUITE
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTRjPdFnAs0

    From my Swashbuckling Adventure album.

This was was a lot of fun to edit and actually turned out better than I thought. The suite begins with the famous main theme which then segues into a fantastic action cue as Robin Hood escapes to Sherwood Forest. The cue then allowed me to seamlessly segue into another brilliant rendition of the Robin Hood main theme as Robin trains his merry men for battle. This suite ends with the wonderful finale music as Robin marries Marian with the blessing of King Richard.

    (Jerry Goldsmith)

A rather good suites with barely noticable edits. For those who haven't heard the score, what you hear here nearly encompasses what the score had to offer, so if you don't like it, then that's that.

  4. Great to the point suite ! It helps to love the score like I do !!! beer

Can we request suites? If so, can someone make something with the original tracks, released by FSM just a month or two ago, of that Schifrin score "Bullitt".

  8. 3 Suites I've made:

    - Gold Diggers (Joel McNeely) (man what a great composer Joel McNeely remains shame )

    - Shrek (Harry Gregson-Williams & John Powell)

    - Thunderbirds (Hans Zimmer)

Excellent, thanks! I'm not familiar with any of those scores.
    I am extremely serious.
  9. some other suites, 1 in particular is a must to hear:

    - Dungeons & Dragons (Justin Caine Burnett)

    - Flipper (Joel McNeely)

    - Mystery Alaska (Carter Burwell) very nice underrated score, I hope they release it someday

    Must Have

    - Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (Philippe Chany), fantastic orchestral score houses one amazing powerful main theme and an action ORCHESTRAL track some composers could learn a couple of things from

    enjoy
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  10. Here's one I made earlier...

    Lost Planet 2 (Jamie Christopherson)

Basically a suite of the principal themes from the game, and the only music from the soundtrack worth listening to IMO. Anyway, this is bombastic and rousing stuff, a shame that it's only 9 minutes long.

    Enjoy.

  11. Ok I just listened to my own upload and what I want to know is, why is the sound always worse after I uploaded one of these suites? It sounds slightly muffled on youtube, because the original WAV is crystal clear.

Anyone know how to get the upload the exact same as the source file?

Youtube has standards and it transcodes audio-visual material according to that. I'd say read what the standards are, usually mp3, mix your material according to that and you'll be fine.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  12. What I forgot to say is I use Windows Movie Maker to make a WMV out of the WAV + game logo. But the WMV still sounds okay to my ears. It's after the upload it goes downhill.

I made two new videosuite tributes.

    Total Recall

  14. Wasn't supposed to be back online until Monday, and indeed these few spare hours will be my last until Monday, but I decided to get some shit done since I've had a lousey fucking Thanksgiving.

So, without further adou, I present Mark Snow's score to "Born To Be Wild"; as usual, bits and pieces edited together into suites. I made three of them (I've only uploaded this one -- if there are requests to hear the others, I will get them up as well). They came out very well if you ask me.

Some of you may be hearing a new side to Snow:

  15. Coming when ever possible:

A suite from "Hideaway" (Trevor Jones)

Most of the score was boring, pointless modern experimental orchestra and synth scapes. Even with 2CDs worth a score to choose from, I found it hard to get enough material, but somehow I did and made three suites. If you all like the first, I'll put the others up as well.

Also, a suite or two from "Outbreak" (J.N.H.) -- which was harder to do, and as a result didn't always turn out very well (same with my "Men In Black" suites, which are not up).

I got another J.N.H. score ready for eventual suite making.

  16. "Hideaway" (as comented on in the post above)

    Suite 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocTvxFZ_WeE
    Suite 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f386c4HZgek

I ended up making five suites to this one, but decided to only put these up. More suites to follow tomorrow night.

  17. "The Adventures of Captain Zoom From Outerspace" (TV movie; unreleased score)
    By: the late Shirley Walker

    Suite 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrXy69dltVg

    "Outbreak" (from expanded boot)
    By: James Newton Howard

  18. "The Keeper of the City"
    By: Leonard Rosenman
    Suite 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRhtSlYwtTE

What happens when Revell does a score with a regular orchestra, and doesn't do endless annoying synth scapes and drones, with a reasonably well contructed score? Why, this is what happens:

    "The Saint"
    By: Graeme Revell
    Suite 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3czuAAkAX90
    Suite 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8QzRZSqKYE

    "Atlantis"

  20. With some editing and re-arranging, I managed to turn "Young Guns 2" into something fairly enjoyable:
