I'm surprised there was no topic for this composer from Belgium. Great composer. Bregt loves his music! And I quote him as a reference all the time!

    My favourite scores:

-Knetter (I worked on the temp score)
    -Daens (great theme)
    -De Kavijaks (review http://www.maintitles.net/reviews/de-kavijaks/ )

But there's something akward about him though. For instance check the message on his homepage:

''Every day, music gives the strength
to move that one stone in the river
    one millimetre forward.”''
    http://www.dirkbrosse.be

    How corny, how pretentious dizzy

How would you describe his music in one sentence? *

  1. Haha Mr Brossé, don't know his compositional skills but his conductorial skills are well documented in Belgium. He will conduct the coming Star Wars concert in march. Which should be awesome !! He has done a flawless job of directing orchestras on the few occasions I've seen him conduct.

Yes, I was expecting some optimistic words from our fellow Flemish nationalists!

I find it hard to describe a composer in a single sentece, but let's just give it a try...

He writes often writes melodic music for small ensembles and his use of legato and staccato reminds me a bit of Morricone.

Haven't heard much of his music to be honest. His conductor skills are well praised and received in the film music world (he replaced Goldsmith for the anniversary concert, and conducted Final Fantasy for example), and does all film music concerts in Belgium.

    Joep finds him awesome.

Well to my defence, the nevermind started out as a reaction to your action. But that reaction was prematurely killed. And luckily so.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Brossé was nominated for an Emmy last week, for his lovely score for Paradise End.

Off topic news has been mentioned in WSA thread.

    The headline, the picture....

It's behind a paywall....plus it's in Dutch and there's no picture to be seen. What was it?
    I am extremely serious.

Nothing out of the ordinary. The headline is more than enough to absorb:
