Here's a beautiful track by Henry Mancini...

    THE LOSER'S THEME

I used to have this album on LP, it's a fantastic Mancini score and richly deserves a CD release.

Oh, and thanks to Ford Thaxton for reminding me of this great score,

    Kinda interesting and world musicy.

Aalborg (or Ålborg) is a danish city, btw, so might be some danish group.

Anyway, I think all music videos on youtube should be accompanied by half naked babes. The world would be a better place.

One of the greatest western themes of all time-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPFvmG8-Td0

Only thing that bother me is that sound that sounds like someone is banging on an empty plastic bottle throughout the entire piece. Besides that, this piece is extraordinary.

Glad I introduced you to this goodie, Tim. punk

Btw, the finale is also worth a listen. It's basically the same piece, but with strings instead of Edda dell'Orso. As great as she is, strings throughout is also quite a listen (and the poster ain't bad either)-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE7R5CPasNo

The secondary theme is also pretty good. Besides the main and secondary themes, I don't think the score has ever been released. slant

I believe that's a congo or bongo soft hit. Both instruments sound different, and I can't recall which.
You can hear more of the hitting in the melody, soft, hard, different orctave sounds.

For me, none of the wstern themes I've heard quite did it as this Ken Thorne title piece:

Hehe, this is so cheesy it's practically a camembert.

Justin, thanks for instrument info. And yes, the Hannie Caulder theme is just fantastic. Pure Bernstein magic, despite it being not by Bernstein.

Anyway I recommend people getting the first two volumes. While there are some weird selections there are also tracks that will blow you away, like Deserto di fuoco, Piccioni's Una colt in mano al diavolo and Bacalov's Django and Il grande duello which is also featured in Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Listened to some of the clips of these but none really grabbed me. But what I did come across was Michele Lacerenza's score for L'ira di Dio/Wrath of God which is rather quite good:

Hmm, nothing happens when I click on "Listen to Samples and Buy MP3s" in that link.

Anyway, another track I like from Spaghetti westerns volume 1 is this one. My gf worships it too, even though she's not really a big fan of spaghetti western music.

I can't get this US site to play clips either - may be something to do with the Amazon iCloud player setup they seem to have?

Anyway, in keeping with the theme of the topic, here's a YouTube video of one of the themes from the film:

I did find the repeated use of Lacerenza's theme throughout the score - with only occasional variety - a bit tiring after a while. But it is worth a listen,
