Is there an easy way to save the thread without having to go through it, cutting-and-pasting it bit by bit?

BTW, thanks Erik for the comments throughout all of this - and this goes to everyone else too. I am hoping that my choices - as well as the comments they have started - have meant that people have discovered new music. It has certainly given me some pointers to discover new music over the last few months (years?!).

You've introduced me to material I wouldn't have listened to.
    Tom
    listen to more classical music!
  3. I've changed the title from "my" to "Alan's" to acknowledge that others may wish to do a similar topic.

And people may want to consider whether it is time to unsticky the topic now that it is up-to-date.

For 2011 -- which also was a great year (in fact, the last three years have all been excellent), these are my honourable mentions:

WAR HORSE (John Williams), JANE EYRE (Dario Marianelli), HANNA (The Chemical Brothers), THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross), THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU (Thomas Newman), RANGO (Hans Zimmer), SOURCE CODE (Chris Bacon), SOUL SURFER (Marco Beltrami), PRIEST (Christopher Young), PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES (Hans Zimmer), THE TREE OF LIFE (various), CONTAGION (Cliff Martinez), RESTLESS (Danny Elfman), REAL STEEL (Danny Elfman) and TINTIN (John Williams).

But once again, a great electronic score rises to the occasion:

    DRIVE (Cliff Martinez)
    I am extremely serious.

And Alan, thanks for doing this thread. I know it's yours, but I -- and several others -- have basically followed in your footsteps and added our own picks. It's been kinda revealing for myself too; never really done a chronological, systematic gothrough like this before.

Without everyone's contributions, adding their comments on my choices but especially adding their own favourites as well, this would just have been my own ramblings!

Due to circumstances I haven't been able to find the time to comment on your last choices, but I just wanted to chime in that I enjoyed this thread immensely! Yielded some really good suggestions for additional listening too through the various choices and reactions, which always is a bonus. smile

  5. Now that it's not "a sticky" it's going to seem weird for this topic to slide down the list and drop off the end of the front page.

    I can!

As I hear more and more old stuff then I may revise my year-choices - I suppose that that will keep this topic as a "living document".

Yes, thanks for sharing your list. I wasn't always very active here, but I read most of your choices.

    It's 2,5 years! Impressive. shocked

  6. Nice work, Alan. This thread is quite an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing. There are a lot of scores you mentioned that I am still unfamiliar with, but that are now on my radar thanks to you.

Incidentally, my pick for 2011 is McKenzie's THE GREAT MIRACLE.
  7. The Great Miracle is an enjoyable listen but it's not my favourite style.

  8. Ooh, man, that is my very favorite style. If every score were like that I would be in heaven!
  9. Hi Alan! How about an update? I'm very interested to hear what you favorite scores from 2012 were.

Oh yes! I forgot that I should really update this now that 2012 has passed. I do have a "Best of 2012" list so I will have a look through it again in light of a few latecomers for 2012.
