Wow, Intrada just released one of my holy grails - Di Cola's music to ROCKY IV. Ordered in a heartbeat.

    I am extremely serious.
  1. I was interested to hear the clips when this was announced - I hadn't come across this version of Rocky before.

But I had a "Marmite moment" as soon as I heard the '80s electronica - I didn't like it at all!

I absolutely adore that stuff, but then again I grew up with it.

what I remember of it was pretty good, at least the synth parts. I'm wondering about that orchestral end though, perhaps something for in the future

By the way, what happened to Di Cola? Between this and TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, he was a talented fellow in the Faltermeyer/Moroder/Foster category.

You can find some info here regarding his various other projects -

I recommend these two CDs - Artistic Transformations and The Protoform Sessions.

    And it's here!!!

This, along with Horner's AVATAR, is the only non-Williams/Elfman/Goldenthal soundtrack I've bought these last few years. That says something about how much of a fan I am. It's just as good as I had expected, one good, self-sufficient piece after the other, arranged wonderfully as a coherent listening experience. Love them delicious, funky grooves. And melancholic piano bits.

    Isn't Rocky IV a C&C release?

I don't know. Could be. But it's still a nice listening experience, 30-something minutes, nice segue from melancholy to action, many self-sufficient pieces. It's not your average soundtrack album. It could be one of those few scores that lend themselves more easily to a C&C presentation.
