I vaguely remember that little fact.

Unfortunately my recollections of Liz Taylor in Cleopatra are now tainted by Amanda Barrie. sad

I'd still watch Carry On Cleo over that bloated epic any day. biggrin

Taylor did some fine work and also created jobs for the gossip magazines with her personal life.

And now Wenche Foss, Norway's greatest diva actress and our equivalent to Elizabeth Taylor, has passed away, age 93. What a week....Liz Taylor, Foss and my own grandfather. Three great ones. sad
    I am extremely serious.
  1. My condolences to your personal loss, Thor.

Thank you, Ralph, although my intention was not so much to draw attention to his passing once again, but rather how these things seem to come in "bulks".
    I am extremely serious.
  2. Since I had not noticed it before (I don´t read everything these days), it´s hardly your "fault".
But yes, sometimes it seems fate has to prove us something.

If you go to these Norwegian news sites right now (the main ones), the news is all over it - she's far bigger here than Liz Taylor. She was an institution and the last diva of her era:

But yeah, 93 is a great age.

  3. Saddened at the death of Elisabeth Sladen, lovely assistant to Doctor Who when I was at my most impressionable age. I was very pleased to see her star in Doctor Who (and The Sarah Jane Adventures) more recently.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her as the primary character (and Doctor Ten's reaction to her) in the episode School Reunion.
A true and properly enjoyable nod to oldytimes Doctor Who.

Oh yes! I definitely adored Sarah Jane Smith!

  6. Film critic, Andrew Collins - who I think must be about my age - writes about Elisabeth Sladen. Any many of his comments resonate with me. Including the comment that Elisabeth Sladen was definitely "better" than Kate Jackson...but not by much!

  7. On the day of the final of the World Snooker Championships it is sad to hear of the death of Ted Lowe, "the voice of snooker".

Definitely a voice of my childhood.
