But anyway - Italy out of the World Cup too. Unbelievable - both of the finalists from last time have fallen at the first hurdle without winning a game at the group stage.

Yeah, the France and Italy exists were definitely surprising.
Too bad about our neighbouring Danes today, too, even though the loss to Japan was deserved.I am extremely serious. -

As far as sports are concerned the Soccer still lags behind baseball, NBA draft, and Wimbeldon tennis. It would be come a huge deal if they got into the final four. Too weak a team.

Yeah, but I just read that the success of the American team in the current World Cup has created more buzz in the US. The article said that 17 million viewers saw the USA-England match, whereas 18 million saw the NBA play-offs, which isn't bad. Here's the article in Norwegian:

If you take away that segment of our population the viewing audience would be nil. Soccer has never gotten a foothold like it should. I would guess as far as sports are concerned it would look like this
1... Football
2... Baseball
3... Basketball
4... Hockey
5... Soccer
I don't count golf as a sport. Lately because of Tiger Woods it has been most popular.listen to more classical music! -

Hockey is taken seriously, Demetris. For example I am a huge fan of hockey. I watched all the games I could in the Vancouver Olympics.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Hockey is far more popular outside the US than in. Especially in Canada, as I'm sure Erik will tell you. In fact, I think the Canadian national anthem was written so that they would have something to sing before Hockey matches.... -

I've been catching some of the highlights on ESPN's website thus far. But today was the first time that I saw it live (had to hunt for a site that streamed ABC live). Great game! USA had their chances and will regret missing them. What an awesome day for Ghana!
Too bad about Italy being dumped out of the tournament. -

FIFA really shouldn't show super-super-slow-motion replays of Wayne Rooney. They look like the CGI reconstructions you see in science documentaries of the evolution of man. -

Apparently, FIFA won't officially recognise the Hindenburg disaster as their guy didn't see it and what's caught on camera counts for nothing. -
