The film is directed by Vincenzo Natali, produced by Guillermo del Toro and starring Adrien Brody as Clive, Sarah Polley as Elsa and Delphine Chaneac as Dren.

Superstar genetic engineers Clive and Elsa specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create incredible new hybrids. Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize science and medicine. But when the pharmaceutical company that funds their research forbids it, Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiments. The result is Dren, an amazing, strangely beautiful creature of uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments. And though, at first, Dren exceeds their wildest dreams, she begins to grow and learn at an accelerated rate--and threatens to become their worst nightmare.

Music composed and conducted by Cyrille AUFORT, performed by THE PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA at Angel Studios-London. The soundtrack is also featuring the jazz track “Night And Dren” composed by Richard Pell.

    Music notes from the Composer:
The soundtrack I composed for Splice is a blend of several music genres following the example of DREN, the hybrid Creature in the movie.
The most challenging element in this sense was to come up with a sort of fluctuating music score allowing descriptive and narrative continuous changes between the growing tension and the drama, between pure atmospheric non discursive moments and non melodic cues, these opposed to very thematic oriented ones carrying emotions, and following the inner evolution of each of the principal characters.
Two main Themes can be identified in the following manner: Elsa's Theme and DREN 's Theme. Both are overlayed, intertwined and interlaced as the two characters (are) in the Film through a unique bond. Cyrille Aufort

    Soundtrack notes from the Director:
Splice is a love story disguised as a creature film. As such, it straddles two cinematic worlds: drama and horror. The soundtrack that you hold in your hands is the glue that bonds those two polarities into a cohesive whole. Cyrille Aufort’s exquisite score whispers with a gentle piano refrain and roars with all the force that the Philharmonia Orchestra can muster. Like Dren, the inhuman star of Splice, his music is a hybrid; a fusion of soft and loud, of acoustic and synthetic, of melodic and atonal, all of which somehow add up to something greater than the sum of its parts. The net result is a beautiful, strangely seductive entity that will envelop you in its elegant construction just before it rips you to pieces. Vincenzo Natali
